Pascal was not a top guy when Froch beat him. In fact, Pascal has never been ranked in the top 10 at SMW and all he had was wins against journeymen.
Watch the Dirrell fight again. If you're impressed, you have a mental problem. Froch looked like a local brawler. Against Taylor, he was losing on points before the KO, so he sure didn't look well, did he? As I said in a previous post, Pascal was not a name at SMW and was very green. Froch's best win is Abraham, without a doubt. Johnson is not his least impressive one. Bute won every round against Johnson, that counts for something. That being said, I rate Bute 3rd or even 4th based on the resume. H2H, I rate him first.
Actually, The Ring 2007 rankings do have Andrade in the 5th position after Kessler, Mundine, Bute and Lacy (with Calzaghe on top of the list). The next year, after Bute-Andrade I (but also after ), the rankings of the same magazine put Andrade on the 3rd step, after Kessler and Bute, while Mundine dropped in the 4th, Calzaghe stepped up at LHW and Lacy got out of the top 10 after an unconvincing MD win against Mendoza (at LHW, though) and a clear UD defeat against Jermain Taylor. So, the only thing really happened was the switch (Bute,Andrade)/Mundine: not to be attributed to Bute making Andrade look big.
people saying froch should be lower than 2nd because he lost to kessler. well bute lost to andrade, he was out on his feet. i wouldn't give significance toi that if he had gone on to face tough opposition. be he hasn't. he's fought people like bika and magee. his most credible win is against johnson. i cant begin to understand why people rank him higher than froch!!!
They are ppl that have more boxing pedigree than you and me, or ppl who like him more , or ppl who have seen something in him and have faith in him. They are rating him on potential. I know few guys who know boxing more than you and me one of them has been a boxing trainer that tells me he's something else he's really smart in the ring, he thinks Bute will dominate Froch. I'm more skeptical I think Froch is as awkward and has such a style that is hard for anybody but his shortcomings will turn up to much to hide against Bute. Froch has come to close to many times, I believe Ward will beat him, probably a UD in a boring fight, with some frustration and not much damage as it was against Kessler on the englishman's face. If Ward can hit and close the space and then hit fast compact and with short punches inside, he will head for a victory similar to " Ward-Green " with a little more spice to it.
Im not saying he isnt better than froch. he would probably beat froch if they fought but thats not the point. foreman was better than frazier before they fought. but he didnt get ranked above frazier until he beat him. you cant rank someone based on potential. boxers have to earn their spot. people already calling bute the top man in the division are ignoring the fact that his record doesn't compare to frochs or wards.
Annual Ratings:-( okay looked it up, Andrade was #4 coming into the first fight and he was still #4 coming into the second.. Andrade and Bute both surpassed Mundine with their first fight hand in hand Andrade made it from 4 up to 3 following his first Bute *loss* but later got surpassed by Froch and was back at #4 before the rematch.. doesn't really change my point though:bart
Frazier was UNDISPUTED Champion of the world, something Froch can't be even after he beat's Ward because Bute is still standing tall.

Better list, although I'd still put Froch at #2 and Bute at #3 (could be argued that Kessler is #3 though).
