It wasn't wide like temple has it it was close but I felt at the time that Kessler had just done enough.

Froch just never stepped it up down the back 9 like he normally does!!!

    I'm sure I had Kessler up 8-4.

Wow those are a lot wider than I remember, maybe I need to go back and watch it.

Do you guys agree that there was another gear missing from Froch that night or do you think he was just beaten by the better fighter?

I think the bodyshots he was shipping had a lot to do with that. He got caught with a lot of decent right hands to the body.

I try not to give fighters alibis unless they’ve got broken hands and such. It’s one of the reasons I get annoyed with some Kevin Mitchell supporters saying “If Kev was 100% he’d have beaten Katsidis”. That’s just unfair on Katsidis who was in great shape and had a good gameplan.

Anyway, back to the point, no. I think Kessler adapted and used his right hand to the body to take away Carl’s energy. When people say “if he’d just worked a bit harder…” Well there was a reason he didn’t – Kessler was stopping Froch from doing what he wanted.

I don’t think he really expected Mikkel to step into mid-range and fight with him. Mikkel is faster (though was horribly inaccurate, definitely his eyesight problems) so was able to do more work. It wasn’t all landing, but Carl wasn’t always responding.

No I don't agree with that, its not like Denmark is over 5 time zones and you are struggling with jet lag.

it was poor of Froch to use that as an excuse. He could taken the overnight ferry from Harwich to Cuxhaven and then into Denmark and could have stayed in Copenhagen until the flight ban was lifted, but that's by the by now.

During the fight Kessler's boxing ability became evident mid way through the fight plus when Froch tried to up the pace Kessler went with him and even went further than Froch at times.

jimmy Montoya deserves huge credit for that for pushing Kessler on.

Not that it matters, but if people are making excuses for Froch then some should remember that by all account Kessler wasn't 100% either.

Froch didn't win the fight. He should be thankful that he lost as it gave him the kick of the arse he needed.

Agreed - if he had put it on Kessler more, he could have won it, imho, so I entirely agree with you. He can't afford to stand back and admire his handiwork against Ward, so hopefully the lesson was learned at the right time. The Super Six format saved his bacon, putting him straight back in the title mix.

  10. Agree with most of what's been said.

Kessler won, either 7-5 or 8-4 are fine. Froch's gamplan was a bit off but Kessler took the play away from him and then fought like a demon in the last couple of rounds to make sure of the win.

Was a really good fight, as mentioned it gave Froch the motivation to really kick on.

Kessler won. No controversy. Close, competative but very clear.

    I scored it 8-4 Kessler.

A good few close rounds, but felt it was clear for Kessler.

Kessler won it for me. I felt Froch started too slowly and showed too much respect and didn't capitalise on the couple of occasions he had Kessler hurt.

I had it close going into the last round and was expecting a final round of 'Froch vs Taylor' proportions, but Kessler won the last round.

Yeah, well put. Hope he can still feel that kick. Those body shots paid dividends but I felt there was something missing from Froch that night.

Exactly how I feel. I'm not talking about the flight over either. I think just becoming a dad etc took some of his focus and his prep was not what it should have been!!!
