Why cant Mayweather fight Pacquiao in the pocket?

With Pacquiao's 'unique' punching power, he shouldn't take the risk. He'd be really bailing Manny out by giving him more opportunity than he would otherwise have.

 

mayweather definitely can . he has in the past and he recently showed that in the mosley and ortiz fights

This is marquez third go at pac so you'd figure that after 2 fights your defense has to get better in the third fight. Marquez knows pac...he should be able to pick up pacs motions and know when he wants to spring and throw punches.tha along with marquez being a good style matchup witj pac mad pac look ordinary.....i still think mayweather wins by decision but in a competive fight......wont be as easy as you make it seem for maymeather, based on marquez's defense agianst pac

If floyd holds him he isn't going anywhere. I am definately a PAC supporter but the more you look at who has the advantages in this fight the more you lean towards FMJ. Also is castillo as good as cutting the ring off as Castillo is? Does he even need to cut off the ring?

 

He can fight Manny in the pocket all freaking night if he wanted to. Manny doesn't have an inside game at all. Plus the Southpaw advantage is no longer an issue on the inside. Long Rang, and Inside is where Floyd will dominate Manny. Mid Range is where Manny has his chances. Look at Andre Ward vs Green for example. Can Floyd fight that type of fight on the inside , leaning and being physical, holding one arm and hitting with the other and just making things ugly? Yes he can but Manny can't. Manny won't even be able to shoe shine bc he wouldbe getting tied up and walked backwards, pushed up against the ropes.

 

Marquez picked up Manny's motions by the 3rd round of their first fight.

 

Stop worrying about his chin because he knows how to fight in the pocket without getting hit. Floyd ain't got **** to worry about when in the pocket with Pacquiao. The only struggle is actually getting to the pocket

If you watch every fight of Foyds against sotuhapws he loves to lead, fight off the front foot .. and defensively he can be flat footed. When he goes behind that shell, whether its the shoudler roll or just a regular guard, he plants his feet. That makes him an open target for Manny. Although he can pick off / block , move his upepr body to get away from his punches, it still gives manny more opportunities then say, JMM whos' always moving, giving lateral movement, and staying out of range.

Thing about Floyd is he's not a range-fighter. He loves fighting in the pocket. He'll stand right in front in front of you, not really utilizing any angles .. it's not what he does. The easiest fight for Floyd is to fight a distance fight. Use his reach advantage and footwork to stay away from manny and pop him from the outside, while constantly shifting and turning him. The only problem I see for him is his defensive habits might not allow him to do that, since he's so used to planting his feet and lettign his opponent walk in.

He would school Manny in the pocket..he would give him a boxing lesson in footwork and defense...Floyd fights very well "in the pocket" and he is much more 'versatile' than Manny IN AND OUT OF THE POCKET.
