Watching the hungry under dog Welliver blow Solis away for the first few rounds landing amazing combo's almost at will. Insane punch out put. Solis clearly got lucky with his TKO victory, Welliver was clearly able and wanted to fight on. Solis, 28, staggered Welliver with a hard combination in the 9th round, and then followed with a flurry of shots ending with the referee Daniel Van de Wiele stepping in and putting a stop to the fight at 1:23 of the round. Solis, the 2004 Olympic heavyweight Gold Medalist for the Cuban National team, showed little in the way of power during the fight and was forced to pound out the victory with an accumulation of blows to the head of Welliver.

At 6’2” 282 lbs, Welliver looked badly out of shape, yet he moved incredibly well around, in fact, much better than the similarly overweight Solis. Welliver fought really well in the 1st round, jabbing and hooking him to the head repeatedly. Solis, not the fastest of heavyweights, seemed slow to react to Welliver’s early attack and looked a little startled by the fury of Welliver’s early onslaught.

Oddly enough, he has moved to New Zealand, lost 50 pounds and won 14 times since the Solis fight. He has some talent and decent skills. I wonder if we haven't seen the last of him.

It was unprecedented heavyweight action. An average height of 6 feet 1 inches and an average weight of 270 pounds in the ring. The heavyweights sure are bigger these days, no way would any sub-200 lber compete with these guys.

Yeah. All he has to do is keep beating the same level of guys and he'll win the Klitschko sweepstakes, because everyone else has been slapped around. :conf I doubt we've seen the last of him too. He posts here, you know.

I'm serious Welliver is a pig. I can't even watch him in the ring he is so obese and disgusting. Man Boobs, Jelly Rolls everywhere....Tub of Lard. No way will I ever respect that guy. It's a disgrace that man makes more money than most people in the world doing a sport where fitness is required.

Well Suzie, I've never asked anybody to watch me. Admittedly, I was horribly out of shape for that fight. HORRIBLY! As mentioned above, I have lost 50 lbs. I'm working hard to keep the weight down and eventually work my to a title fight.
You see, I learned from this fight. Look at the weights after me and Solis fought. I have slowly moved down. Solis slowly moved up. I would like this fight again anytime he and his promoter would like to set it up. I was with his promoter, Amet Ohner in Puerto Rico at the beginning of this month and he told me after Solis has 1 fight they will fight me.
As I mentioned, I learned a lot from this fight and have been trying to keep myself active. I never had a trainer leading into this fight, but now I have a strength and conditioning coach, and a very good boxing coach. I never really had a coach teach me how to box. I had to learn on the job. I came out of the toughman circut.
I hope for the best and think 2012 something big will come about.
    Cheers

:-( Some people don't appreciate the good ole fashion blue collar fighters that make the world go around, CW. The guys who don't have their asses kissed and wiped from the slappy amateur fights up to a professional world title and are given every advantage in training, matching and TV spots. I hope you're rewarded for your efforts with a chance to prove you belong in Ring's top ten men, soon.

I think we do appreciate it. I think we also appreciate the heavyweight fighters not allowing themselves to become obese circus clowns. How are good fighters like Solis, Arreola, Welliver, and others supposed to compete with a chizzled seasoned champion like Wladimir Klitschko when they look like they trained on jelly doughnuts?
