Botha/Grant Discussion

last i heard botha was 258 lbs in training....hes 43 yrs old.............michael grant is 38 and in much beter condition

It's a tough call. I'm gonna lean towards Grant, based on conditioning.

 

Grant is really in fantastic shape. As far as giant men go,he is more impressive than Klitschko physically.

 

Considering that neither have ever been at that high a level in their primes, it's interesting how well these guys have held up, over the years, honestly. They must have gotten hovering lessons from ATG top 30 hoverer Fres Oquendo. Grant has simply had the higher profile showing of the last few years, with Adamek. Which was a good fight and reminded people that he's still a solid enough name for fighters coming up.

The weights seems to vary a bit depending on the source, but very generally speaking it's about Botha 254, Grant 253.

At least in training terms then, Botha's 9 pounds down from his last fight in June so seems to have put the effort in. Grant is Grant, that he can still weigh in at 39 years old at the same weight he did when he was 25 years old is a credit to him and further indictment of those younger heavies that come in for their title or high-ranking fights in poor shape.

Grant's got the better gas tank, Botha's the craftier fighter. Botha will be looking to grapple and get that roundhouse right in, Grant will be on the back foot looking to shoot his own right down the pipe.

It's Botha early or Grant late.

 

Hopefully Grant. He's big and hard hitting, and thus would make a fine victim for A Klit, or mabye Helenius.

Botha is just a fat old guy with overrated power who has already been bested by Wladdy.

 

I really wasn't interested in this fight @ all...I was pleasantly surprised tho when I heard Micheal Buffer was here as the ring anouncer for this event!!!
