Now this is a good one both where Blood and guts fighters who had more heart than skill.

    Rocky Marciano or Arturo Gatti?

Imo I think Rocky Marciano was more exciting.

    Gatti was more exciting.

    Marciano was much more inevitable.

gatti was nearly knocked out, decapitated and butchered in virtually every fight, win or lose. this offered a sense of drama that i feel "the rock" lacked personally

Rocky did lack personality, in the same way T-34 Tank lacks personality.

I found Rocky more exciting due to his power could easily change a bout e.g Jersey Joe Walcott 1 and he struggled with many fighters but had so much will to win.

This is one of the best knockouts of all time

Gatti, very much. The combination of dangerousness, vulnerability and durability was freakish. He'd get so badly hurt but still stand and bomb away and unleash some evil leather. Marciano was rarely in that much trouble despite bleeding.

    Well...so could Gatti's.

Yer but gatti couldn't do that against the very best opponents he faced, whereas Marciano did

Edit: but yer gatti is more exciting

he is entertaining, but the only marciano fights/sections i've really enjoyed were charles and walcott

for gatti the robinson, ward and ruelas fights are infinitely watchable imo

Yeah all those gatti fights where amazing.

Marciano vs Louis,Moore,Cockell fights are good too in one round of the Moore fight there on the inside for the entire round just pounding away.

Gatti's fights had added vulnerability, Marciano's did not. Even when he was cut or knocked down, you never got the sense that he was in big trouble. He would wipe off the blood or get off the canvas and continue what he was doing without showing any signs of hurt.

Would you say he looked a little desperate late in Walcott I? Or not at all?

I'm sure there was desperation but he didn't show much. He was stone-faced as usual and fought within his usual style.

Round 12 was one of Walcott's best rounds too.
