Watching the billy dib card and just heard Chris McCullen break the news that apparently Katsidis and Smith have gone there separate ways. Despite there obviously solid relationship out side of the ring I've thought once or twice that smiths advice in some of micks bigger fights (particularly marques) from the corner hasn't been tremendous.

what are your thoughts? good or bad for kats? if good based on his last performance is this move too little too late?

Great for Katsidis imo. I mean he hasnt progressed as a fighter a hell of a lot the last few years. Maybe he wont progress with a new trainer either but its definitely worth a try.

About 4yrs too late...... Mick might now be able to throw a proper right hand at full stretch.

I wonder if Kats reads these threads :yep

I honestly thought Smith would be great to stay on in Katsidis's team as a 2nd in charge sort of role and let someone else take over as his head trainer. Regardless of Smith's ability i just think his personal experience with Katsidis is invalueable.

Agree to some extent. But a half change isn't what Michael Katsidis needs at the moment. It's getting near last roll of the dice tme and he needs a fresh approach.

I think a completely clean break is the most resolute way to end it on a professional level. If their friendship is still intact i think that is where Smith's invaluable experience fits in.

At this stage of his career it spells disaster. Theres only about a 10% chance this ends well. Hes going to need to get with a top world class trainer now. Ive got a feeling he'll move to England.
