In all fairness though it was in no way one sided for Marquez. I had it 115-113 for Juan, and I could have seen a draw also. Bottom line is that Marquez didnt go after it enough to get a clear win, especially in the 12th round. I dont understand why fans are in uproar over it honestly.
Try reading what he said. I had a much closer score 2nd time around myself, first JMM 116-112 2nd time around I gave Pac an extra round; JMM 115-113 myself. Some other rounds were really close, but I just don't see how Pac could have won more rounds than that.
It's sad that they do. Just cos of having one bad night they diminish all the other feats that fighter has accomplished till date. On paper they may have won and thats what counts at the end and maybe not what fans think. Bob, Oscar, Schaefer etc dnt seem to care about the fans thats for sure. Things like the ones listed below ruin the spirit of boxing imo... we have seen alot of them in fights this year: suckerpunching headbutting wwe style power bombs onto the canvas excessive footstepping hitting opponents in the family jewels like 10 times and being awarded a win kissing ducking other fighters pro Manny commentators etc.
Another point is John if all these boxers fought 10-20 times a year and all fought each other no one would care. Then again if there were internet forums in the 40s, some posters would hate Lamotta and Robinson for avoiding Burley. That's the problem we talk about boxing every day and put it under the microscope, it goes beyond a hobby with we obsessive boxing fans. If you just goto the fights and enjoy them then you're not bothered about the politics and if fights don't happen EDIT: I wouldn't be as harsh on him in person, his fans on here have a lack of knowledge and I like to troll them
No. Both he and Pacquiao have hit a level that is the point of no return. They've done too much to have their case fall apart on a single fight.
Yes, it's sort of like 'If Patterson beat Marciano' you can say he's past his prime but it takes the shine off it. HOWEVER Mayweather has always been all wrong for Pacquaio and was a very silly boy not making the fight without drug tests in the first place. The style is perfect for him, Manny's weaknesses are defensive fighters with great right hands - uhummmmm? I do have a feeling Arum didn't want the fight and I wouldn't be surprised if he created the seed of doubt about PEDs in the first place. Arum knows his boxing styles very well and he's never wanted this fight IMO. He has the chance to make the biggest fight in history and instead making Pac-JMM 3 - what does that say?
You can make more money off Pac on a hot streak winning over several fights than Pac losing to May once. Then again, May can make more with several fights with lesser fighters himself, on his 0 recognition. It cuts both ways. People focus too much on the payoff for one solitary fight, mate.
