    I figured as much.

    Your collins pick interests me because i've never seen him as top of the tree.

    Your reluctance to place ottke also interests me because despite common mythology, he was actually pretty good early doors until, ironically, the big unification fight he had.

    I did intend to put ottke in, but looking over his and calzaghe careers over the period of 97-2003 and dont think he looked more impressive or had better wins. Calzaghe was champ before ottke, and I dont see what Ottke did to overtake.

    Calzaghe beat Eubank to win the title, Ottke beat Brewer. So I would still have Joe ahead when Ottke won a title.
    In 1999- Ottke has Nardiello, Tate and Johnson which I dont think is enough to overtake Calzaghe's Robin Reid and rick thornberry, and the eubank win is still quite recent
    2000 I think this is comfortably a stronger year for calzaghe- starie Sheika and woodhall compared to Bryan pudwill and branco (he'd already beaten brewer)
    So based on title fights so far calzaghe still has the better wins and looked more impressive doing so.
    By the time Ottke retired they had several mutual opponents;
    Reid
    Starie
    Mitchell
    Thornberry
    Brewer
    Pudwill
    And I think Calzaghe looked better against all of these judging by what i have seen and the results of the fights.
    So I dont really see any point where Ottke deserves to be above Calzaghe.

    Overall I dont rate collins above eubank and benn, but after he beat both of them I think he deserves to be the number 1

    This is the key difference; I have liles until 99 and I think sven had a better year than joe so is a better natural successor.

    Overall joe is greater, no doubt. For those years I can't see a time when sven drops below joe.
