Montiel is quite a fighter, he's not been past four rounds since 2008.

    Round 10

Fedchenko is shuffling forward, stopping every few inches to pull his trunks up and get comfortable. Blain is sliding back, holding Fedchenko at the end of his right jab. Good lead lefts by Blain. Fedchenko tries to jab in low, but Blain has his right held down waiting for him as an impasse. WTF just happened?? Headbutt? Blain is in agony. It's his left shoulder. Did it come out of its socket?? A team of doctors in the ring checking. Fedchenko is in his corner, celebrating prematurely. Blain is cleared to continue. Crazy little sequence. Blain holds out his right arm, shelving his left. Is he going to finish this one-handed? He was already in too deep a hole as it was. Yep, he's only jabbing. Ooh, there's a slapping left up from the hip. That had to have hurt to throw (and worse, land). Fedchenko tries to walk Blain down into the ropes with jabs and rights but is having a hard time landing and is winding up in clinches of his own manufacture more often than not as his arms wind up around Blain's neck. Blain drops his hands and gives Fedchenko a few free pops to the face. Jabs and rights, and Blain just shakes his head.

The replay showed that Fedchenko actually landed a clubbing right hand on the shoulder of Blain, which is what probably injured it.

I can't believe Blain's fighting on. Why risk his health? Does he feel he's ahead? Does he think he can score a knockout? :huh

    Round 11

Blain is strictly one-handed. Right jabs flow out steadily as he backs up. Fedchenko comes forward but can't keep up, lunging with his shots. Side to side dancing by Fedchenko, trying to set up a new angle of attack. Blain just keeps circling out and jabbing. Nice slick move, stopping on a dime while circling left to jab and go right instead while Fedchenko is left staring at the empty corner. Fedchenko lunges with right hands to the body and doesn't reach. Blain keeps circling and jabbing.

    10-9 Blain

Hell of an amateur boxer though. Even though he did not directly strike fear into opponents hearts, he sure confused a lot of fighters with his style, speed and experience. :smoke

How many enswells can they put on Fedchenko's face in the corner at one time?

    Many. Many enswells.

The fact that he just won a round against a somewhat rated boxer with only his jab suggests that yeah, there is some talent there.

    Round 12

Blain is backing off and jabbing. Fedchenko tries to dive in a bit to Blain's left to try and head him off. Blain flips his left arm up at him and bounces the back of his glove off Fedchenko's face. Blain keeps the right stick held out, circling all the way back up to the ropes. Clinch. Fedchenko loads up right hands and misses. The crowd whistles, wanting a big finish. Blain ties up. Fedchenko loads up and misses again. Blain pushes out his right jab and circles to his left. Left to the body by Blain before putting it back in the holster. Movement and jabs by Blain, ineffective aggression by Fedchenko.

    115-112 Fedchenko

Yeah. Once he lost the first six rounds and got knocked down, it was over.

He put in a hell of an effort and won more rounds in the second half - especially impressive considering the injury - but no way he can have won.
