[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iuPFy4lcxU"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iuPFy4lcxU[/ame] Defense was absolutely horrendous, definitely needs to be worked on..Was a very close fight, luckily came out with the win..A lot I need to work on! I'm the one in the blue corner
Not bad. More jabs -- especially when your in the centre of the ring. Good when you back him and have him on the ropes. Use your jab to control the fight and keep your opponent off balance. Plus it sets up all your big shot.
Include some head movement and you'll be doing just great! Nice fight btw, congratzon the win. my first fight is in 6 days ! btw how long have ubeen training?
Cheers mate, i'll keep it all in mind! Thanks man, I've been training for about a year. Good luck with your first fight!
Pretty good that Scott. Ok heres the bad points.... Defence... which you know about. Needs lots of work but the good thing is that experience will help you keep an eye on your opponent better and develop more 'instinct' for whats coming next. Your blocking is very ineffective. I'd be looking to force you to the ropes where you could only block- and punch right through your defence. Movement... Your constantly moving to YOUR left, as a southpaw you should be looking to keep your foot on the outside of his. This will make your jab more effective- your block more effective, you will move him closer to to your own cross and you will be forcing him to move in a direction where if he needs to punch he has to stop and set himself. Punches... way to wide with your hooks. You were lucky to only get a couple of public warnings as the majority were landed incorrectly it seemed. Shorten up that hook. Its a great weapon but only if you make sure you don't telegraph it.... Finally that straight left, well picked at times but watch this....... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ui-7QZLuDD0[/ame] You don't always have to throw it text book... The southpaw stance gives you the advantage of hesitancy. Use it.
Cheers mate, this is exactly the thing I was looking for! Obviously the biggest thing I have to work on, I definitely have to work on tightening my guard and implementing head movement in the future I've been working on moving to my right in sparring and I was doing a pretty good job of it but I guess bad habits just came back out when I was nervous and it was something I overlooked in the fight, I'll definitely keep more of an eye on it in sparring and try and implant it in my head I keep getting told this but it's something I really struggle with, have to focus more on it Very interesting video to look at! I'll have to have a go at using it in different ways. Cheers for the reply again! It's really appreciated
Awesome man! I just had my first fight 2 weeks ago. I wish I looked 1/2 as good as you in there bro. Always room for improvement, but by my rookie eyes, I thought you were working really well in there. Congrats on the Victory.
