I miss slick Rick.........I tell ya summat though, all the boxing fans who travel to the states etc for the big fights need to stop singing "theres only one" for whoever they are cheering for, unoriginal ****s, its becoming a shade worse than cringeworthy...... That is all.
to say ricky hatton isnt world class shows that you dont even watch the sport what fighter did he beat for the title.....hmmm he must not be world class too
Cleverly and Bellew just fought for a World title. Enzo held a World title. All are below elite level. Which just goes to show just how **** their divisions are/were.
Manning and BoringDavidHaye have to be the same poster. Both love criticising any British boxer and seem to have a hard on for the current joke of a HW division. Seriously, how any can be entertained by the likes of Dimitrenko, Boystov & Helenius, I'll never know. Anyway, Ricky Hatton WAS a world class boxer in his prime. The Tszyu fight shows that and although there may not be a number of other brilliant names on his record, he was the no.1 LWW for a few years.
Hatton was World Class, although he wasn't the most formidable champion. No shame in that he did well for himself, has some good/decent wins (Maussa; Urango; Paulie; Tackie; Collazo; Castillo) and one very good win (but NOT great IMO; Tszyu) and whilst he was far, far away from a great fighter (as his two fights against great fighters proved) he was a very good fighter, strong, a good body puncher who had fast feet to close the distance and made up for his shortcomings (defence, lack of adaptability, he either started boxing and finished boxing or started mauling and finished mauling) with a first-class heart. Good fighter, was overrated a few years back probably, but now in danger of being underrated. For his time, he was one of the best.
:deal Funny how many people seem to be unable to get their analysis of a fighter right they are either vastly underrated or overrated.

He had wins over some very good fighters.I would say he was world class.He might not be a great but he was a world class fighter.
Could have been a different story for him had Oscar beaten pac, because IMO Ricky would have beaten that version of oscar.. .. although the above is fairly irrelevent because That oscar was always losing to pac!!! Must say I have not seen a fight since the hatton days that generates such a buzz, you would be talking about the fight weeks before, and enjoy all the build ups etc
Don't miss the Hatton days at all. Saying that it would wrong to class him, in his prime, as below "world class". He was divisional No.1 at LWW and P-4-P top-10 guy for quite a long period of time.
