The early-mid 90's had some great middle talent, especially if you include the 168'ers as per earlier times... Roy Jones Jr, BHop, McClellan, Benn, Eubank, Parks, an aging Kalambay, Collins, McCallum, Jackson, Reggie Johnson, Jorge Castro, John David Jackson, Quincy Taylor...

It isn't as good as in the 40's ofcourse but you do have good bunch in Martinez, Pirog, Golovkin, Lee, Korobov, Sturm, Barker, Macklin, N'Jikam, Lemiuex, Chavez jr, Proksa and Alvarez quite possibly rising up to 160. No, not all of them are greats but the middleweights arent looking anywhere near as bad as some people here are making it out to be.

And listing Lockett among todays middleweight elite just shows you're being biased and dont even follow the division or boxing in general at all nowadays, considering he hasnt fought for over 3 years for one

Proska is pretty bad. it shows how far the standards have fallen when you have ******s saying he "looks the goods". someone like Reggie Johnson would give him a boxing lesson without breaking a sweat.

Infact, if emile came in against martinez weighing under the ww limit giving away 20 pounds he'd get slaughtered. There I said it.

If Proksa is "pretty bad" i think you're the one having problems with setting standards for boxers. Jesus

Yes. If griffith weighed in belowed the ww limit against a full sized martinez i'd expect him to get slaughtered. Interpret that word however you desire.

what happened to all the 5'7'' middleweights? did the 24 hour weigh in help them drop down to welterweight just so they can weigh 160 on fight night?

Below is the current MW division and it's got the most talent it has had since before Hopkins garbage era.

    Martinez
    Sturm
    Pirog
    Golovkin
    Geale
    Proksa
    N'jikam
    Khurtsidze
    Macklin
    Lee
    Rubio
    Quillin
    Barker
    Jacobs
    Korobov
    Lemieux
    Chavez

He was taking shots from Lara who is not a big JMW. Williams chin at jmw is average, against most the MW's listed above he would be out cold, eyes open, inside 6 rounds. Looking over the names i'd say twelve of them would do that to him. Williams is one of the most overrated piece of **** in the last 20 years.

...Moyer requires going out on a limb, but Rubin HURRICANE Carter doesn't? :blood

I'm sorry, when did Rubin HURRICANE Carter beat Sugar Ray Robinson? :think

More of a true middleweight, but a lesser talent overall.

Sure, you can contrast their results against common opponent Emile Griffith - but that doesn't actually favor Carter all that much when you scratch beneath the surface. One man went 30 tooth-and-nail rounds in a trilogy with EG; the other has a borderline flukey win where they caught him cold and never bothered with a rematch.
