The 12th was the one round he visibly played it safe. Both the 11th and 12th were close even with his low aggression. Even with that last round, he would have gotten a draw, and left in disgust all the same. They had every right to think they were ahead and didn't want to suffer a knockdown.

Difficult one. If he'd fought aggresive in the final rounds against a fighter like Pac he would have got knocked out. That's why he can test Pacquaio because he doesn't engage.

 

Oh he engages, he's just smart and less predictable about it. Good point about the danger of being aggressive in the latter rounds though.

 

Nacho said it in the corner right before the final round, "explode, explode. Use your speed you worked so hard for. The fight is ours unless the SOB's do it to you again and rob you."

At no point in the fight did Nacho tell Marquez to coast in any manner.
The vast reminders Nacho had to Marquez is to keep boxing and not get lured into a brawl with Pacquiao.

The last round Marquez was out to take away any aggression by Pacquiao and turn him back with counters, the round went by mostly uneventful in that Pacquiao who in his own corner was told by Freddie Roach, "we're down Manny, you need to put this guy on his ass."

.....after hearing that, Pacquiao comes out and waltzes with Marquez.
Having heard from Roach he was behind and needed to put him on his ass, Pacquiao comes foward very cautiously no doubt afraid to get tagged by the hard accurate counters he had been all night everytime Pacquiao tried to force his aggression upon Marquez.

Officially, it was the difference between the loss and the draw. So, how Marquez handled the 12th had a huge effect on the outcome of the fight.

 

We wouldn't know, its either that or pac step up the gas pedal being more his old wild self knowing that he is losing.

One thing is for sure, you don't say stuff like that if you're a trainer. Nothing against Nacho, he is great and marquez is a veteran Atg who doesn't need any advice like that but still you fight every round like its a do or die and keep focus at all times
