Counter punching is one thing but JMM did everything he could to not fight. Any time Pac would try to engage him JMM basically ran away or threw a couple punches then ran away. What happened to the Mexican machismo . Seriously so many people still out raged over a guy who really never tried to mount a consistent offense. News flash JMM could win an Olympic gold medal if they had a running backward event.

The truth is if JMM would have came to fight he would have lost more clearly.

JMM 0-2-1.:lol: If there is a 4th fight may be JMM can I don't know actually try to sustain an offense.

The points are obvious and have been presented numerous times. Pac wins punch stat. The fight was razor close. The old axiom that you have to take the title from the champ is still more or less true. JMM while he was effective at counter-punching certainly he did not sustain offense. Also obviously judges are still influences by aggression.

Bottom line JMM's lack of any sustained aggression hurt him in the fight. You all can call me names all you want but the fact is presented in the outcome of the fight.

Regardless of how you scored the fight, if you didn't appreciate the skill and mental discipline with how Marquez boxed Pacquiao, you don't appreciate good boxing.

It was a masterful display by a 38 year old veteran. Marquez took a lot of Pacquiao's strengths away, and landed the more effective blows in my opinion. Great ring generalship, controlled the pace of the fight for the most part.

Like Hopkins he does what he has to do. Yes his skills are amazing but he simply did not do enough to win.

I actually agree with that. I scored the fight a draw with Pacquiao winning the championship rounds.

I thought the 38 year old ran out of gas personally. Marquez really needed to step it up in the closing rounds and I don't think he had much left. Nacho telling him he was winning did not do him any favors either. Nacho was right, but he should have mentioned it was a close fight still and how the next rounds would be crucial.

Marquez should retire, and he can retire with his head held high. One of the greatest Mexican boxers in boxing history in my opinion.

Kellerman scored the fight a draw as well and he is one of JMM's biggest supporters. Always has been.

Right because anyone who refuses to follow the sheep should watch another sport.

The best summary I saw on the fight was right here on this site. Jason Peck's was spot on in everything he said.

By the way sport one of my favorite fighters was the guy in your avatar. A defensive genius who actually put on offensive clinics in the midst of his defense. Some principle JMM could have thought of.

This is a very interesting counterpoint. I frequently used these types of responses when I was in elementary school. It points to a deep intellect and a sophisticated approach to debate.

You don't win points by not fighting, and so it's a real curious thing how a vast majority of ESB posters had him winning, don't you think? He boxed, he controlled the angle, he nullified Pac's strengths, and landed clean effective blows.

If nuthugging Pacfans are so butthurt they didn't see a slugfest, they can go ask Pacquiao why he didn't go all out as the aggressor and impose his will.
