now this aint a swipe at the boxer cos i like the guy but is there anything more annoying than a casual amir khan fan, his group on facebook is cringworthy at best and its like they only know that one boxer in the world exists!!

he could make a status saying 'which boxer in the world makes the best beans on toast and would get loads of replies saying 'AMIR KHAN YOU IZ DE BEST'

its funny to watch and they are the main reason i want to see him get put on his arse............. Again

It is the same with most sportsman that have that cross over appeal where they are in a sport that on a whole is a minority sport and their fans don't actually know much about the sport. It is horrible when you hear ****s try talk about boxing, when I do I just let them carry on and pretend I don't really no anything about boxing.

I remember in the pub few years ago some ****ing bulb was asking everyone when is Calzaghe going to fight Hatton, you just have to take a deep breath and walk away.

If you go on youtube and read some of the comments, its horrifying. So much racism from both sides.

    Yeah, sure they are .

Tell me, do you have that same feeling towards Pacquiao? And Mayweather? Or how about Hatton when he was around? Maybe even Calzaghe?

Because they're all cross-over (sort of) stars that have attracted casual fans that don't know much about the sport. Mayweather fans actually believe he's the greatest athlete alive. Pacquiao fans actually think he's God. Hatton fans were just Man City fans. And don't even get me started on the Calzaghe ones.

That's what these casual fans, who follow boxers as oppose to the sport, do. If you're going to begin hating the boxers for it, then you're just as bad as they are. In fact, you're worse. At least they have the excuse of being misinformed. What's yours?

But Amir iz de best !!

  15. Agreed.

I don't understand the idea of being a fan of an individual rather than the sport, in the sense of knowing everything about them, and pretending you know everything about the sport - whichever sport that may be.

There's a fair few British sportsmen/women that this applies to - Khan is a good example, Beckham another.
