There is talk of Martinez fighting Macklin in March.

His promoter is doing a horrible job of matching him up.

He should be moving down in weight to secure the biggest fights against guys like:

    Mayweather
    Pacquiao
    Cotto
    Margarito
    Alvarez
    Kirkland
    Angulo

Martinez is a small middleweight. It shouldn't be hard for him to make 154 again. Or even 147 for the right purse.

    He'll be 37 in February.

What? Macklin is a pretty well known middleweight. He should of fought Pirog instead of chasing Floyd, they gave him a nice sum and would have been a sick fight as well.

The real problem is Sergio's promoter...
Dude suck's donkey dick & swallows balls. (in a business sense)
(Nobody wants to do business with him... + he seems like a *****)

IF Sergio want's to make $... He needs to shake that biatch!
    (& sign w/a major promotion)

Macklin is one of the best operators in his current weightclass, the top guys in the weightclass above (that he is pretty small for) are all currently tied up and noone decent in the weightclass below will fight him.

What the **** do you want him to do?

HBO should put their foot down and make the fights that fans want to see.

I can understand the Dzinziruk fight. HBO was contractually obligated to give Dzinziruk a fight.

But they shouldn't have OK'd the Darren Barker fight. No one asked to see that match.

And I don't think anyone wants to see Martinez-Macklin either.

Martinez needs to shake that DiBella, Jr. & sell his soul to Arum/De La Hoya.
Because the clock is.... Tick, Tick, Tick, Ticking.

Arum does not want to put Sergio in with any of his guys, so that rules out Margarito, Cotto, and Pacquiao right out of the gate. Wolfe said Kirkland's not ready for him yet and Angulo just pasted. That leaves Mayweather who's fighting two weightclasses below Sergio, is under no obligation to fight him, and probably wouldn't be any more inclined to fight Martinez if he had already moved down to 154 anyway. Martinez spent YEARS trying to get fights at 154 to no avail; I have no idea why people think it would be any easier to do so now, especially since he doesn't even have a belt there anymore.

Arum still wouldn't be likely to put Sergio in with any of his guys because he's old and not a natural draw. See how long they kept Gamboa away from Lopez and how his only idea to promote Gamboa at this point is to throw him in with a guy fighting two weightclasses above him.

Maklin is a legitimate opponent, but I dont agree with ANY fighter coming of a loss getting an immediate title shot.

That won't happen. Pirog would make Sergio call him daddy after the fight.
