Upon his last win on Saturday, Chavez was asked about a fight against Martinez. Chavez answered was that he respect Martinez and then, remained silence stating that he would rather face Canelo Alvarez. Chavez Jr is already an undefeated champion in 44 fights. His undefeated record, has being created in similar way that Floyd Mayweather has created his undefeated record. Both of these fighters have chosen very carefully their opponents to remain undefeated and both are avoiding top fighters especially Martinez. I consider Chavez Jr still a new boxer and very soon he might be taking big challenges; on the other hand, Floyd is not a new fighter and still after his long carreer, he remained untested by the top fighters of the momment along his whole carreer (with the only exception when he faced Corrales.) Do you agree that both of these fighter are cherry pickers ?

I think that he is good but not great. His defense is terrible but he is improving.

    There is no comparison.

Floyd took the title off a reigning champion who was 38-1 in Genaro Hernandez after only 2 years as a professional, Chavez Jr had to catch some bogus paper title after 7 years of turning professional.

    Neather are cherry pickers.

Mayweather fights the best avaible in his weight class or the one above or below when there is no one worthy in his weight class see fighting De La Hoya and Hatton as oppoesed to the overrated trio of Cotto, Margarito and Williams. Or fighting Mosley and Ortiz after they scored huge wins.

Chavez Jr. is in spite of having as many fights as he has had is still a work in progress.

  8. You can't compare both resumes of these two fighters. Mayweather fought the best. Fact

Now who did chavez beat last night?

Genaro had recently lost to DLH. I do gave credit TO Floyd when he faced Genaro; but he had to face somebody well known at least in the beggining of his carreer if he wanted to be known.

Floyd faced De la Hoya and Mosley when it was time for them to retire.
Hatton had looked bad in his previous fight against Collazo. None of these fighters were top 1 or 2 at the momment which Floyd has avoided along his carreer.

Same thing could be said if Chavez Jr chooses to face and defeat well known fighters who are declining such as old Mosley. This is just what Foyd had done with shot Gatty, old Mosley and old Dela Hoya.

Some had Mosley as number 3 p4p when Floyd fought him.

Most had him as a top 5 p4p.

How about Hernandez. He was ranked number 1 at 130 and never lost at his weight class. What about Chico? He was ranked number 1 at 130 and number 5 P4P. What about Castillo? Arguably the best lightweight of the decade. He was ranked number 1 also. How about Shane Mosley? Number 3 P4P fighter and the number 1 ranked welter. **** he just fought the number 2 ranked welter. I can name more. I don't know how you can compare Chavez Jr to Floyd.
