Floyd Mayweather snr says Pacquiao looked....

He was pretty much the same Pacquiao we've always seen, albeit more technically correct.

The difference in this fight was that the opponent was a difficult matchup for him and actually came to win.

I might be alone in this but I do feel that three easy fights in a row has blunted Pacquiao's edge.

 

im starting to think this a bit, i dont think hes fully focussed on boxing and its showed there, but it is a stylistic issue as well

I think he's just past prime, as simple as that - he's on a downward slope. The fact that Marquez beat him shouldn't really be a surprise as he's done it (arguably) twice before, just not as convincingly.

I equate it to the Haye factor vs Wladimir. Someone like Haye cant be defensively responsible without letting it effect his offensive.

I feel Pacquiao was trying to be more thoughtful and measured with how he attacked Marquez to guard against getting countered. Pacquiao, like Haye, succeeded in being a bit more responsible defensively, only it come at a cost cause it effected him offensively. This combined with what I believe is Manny's slight deterioration physically, due to age, might be why he looked poor.

 

I'm not sure it's the out of camp stuff, he seemed pretty focused for this one compared to that last two.

Yeah it was embarrassing. Really they ought to have looked at retaining Mosley's purse. And Clottey's.

Their sole mission in that fight was to not get stopped. Surely that's the job of Peter Buckley?

The brilliant showing against Cotto was his absolute zenith, realistically he wasn't topping that.

His style doesn't really lend itself to a very long career, at 60 fights over loads of weight classes against everybody bar Mayweather is an excellent record.

im worried it is, and im also worried if it is then this is when mayweather fights him and beats him, because ive always backed pacquaio, but im not too sure now and would be gutted if mayweather does him now, because you wouldnt hear the end of it

Realistically he's got two options, Marquez again or Mayweather. Anything else will look like a cop out.

Martinez has never really been considered a realistic option (and rightly so for him, and Floyd) and the likes of Bradley, Khan etc are young pups on their way up.

i agree, i think marquez again if marquez wants it, then win or lose i wouldnt mind if he retired, unless he looked electric again in which case take the mayweather fight
