On the scene it actually says they inserted an artificial lens during his last surgery. Didn't know that. That may be why it doesn't move with the rest of his face when he smiles.

I noticed that a while ago. But they might still let him fight. Hey, Pryor, Leonard and Frazier fought on with bad eyes and still had decent careers after.
