It's always good seeing different interpretations of a word :good

Is there any sport as subjective as this?

As for great in a historical sense, that's probably what i'd call elite. Guys who's greatness is still revered today. It's all semantics isn't it? World class, elite, great etc.

The best thing for me is guys like langford, burley, mcfarland who can go their whole career without winning a major title and still be bestowed with these adjectives.

As we say, it all really comes down to gradation. I'm sure if we all listed our top 50 there'd be many repeated names, the labels we use are neither here nor there.

(If we were in a pub i'd now wave my pint in your direction and say "here's to the glorious fighters who're still being talked about today" and we'd all cheer them.

If you mentioned McCllellan as 'great' I'd have to pour my pint over you I'm afraid :D

World class, top level, great etc it's all a pointless labelling exercise.

Martinez was no2 behind Fana according to some in here, which of course makes him a no-hoper the way some people act in this place.

So Burns beat the no2 in the division, Burns should be ashamed of himself & I should be ashamed for calling it a good win, the cheek of me:-(

Just keep watching Martinez Flea my good man, cos I think that lad is a helluva win for Ricky, & time will tell!

  9. By smashing an ATG in his physical prime to pieces to win a World title that's how.

i think people are confusing ''great'' with ''all time great''

wladimir is a great. but imo not a top 15 atg
