I kinda do think he's overrated, Flea. Only slightly though.

What kind of bull**** analysis is that?

 

He's one of the best fighters I've ever seen. No workhorse will beat that. I don't think he's overrated because, IMO, not only does he have a great resume and should hold the distinction of being the man in two divisions, he's one of the most insane fighters I've ever seen.

Yuh was class from what I've seen, but nothing special and his resume is meh. I agree that styles make fights, but there are levels as well, and IMO Chang is on that higher level, and is completely proven against many different styles. It would take someone better than Yuh to beat him IMO, though admittedly you know more of him than me so I could be completely wrong :good

Yuh puts his shots together really well, had a decent dig, was tough and had energy to burn. Not enough IMO.

 

just watching Jung-Koo Chang vs Hideyuki Ohashi on youtube there....christ that was good...my type of boxing to watch that....glad he was mentioned here.

 

Jung Koo Chang is undeniably the greatest LFW of all time as a result of his resume and accomplishments, but describing Myung Woo Yuh as being simply a "workhorse" is a bit much, Flea. Yuh had a lot of ring craft to go along with his ridiculous conditioning and cast iron jaw.

What fights have you seen of Yuh's, Flea? :think

Consider the fact that both men have the added incentive of becoming the undisputed king of Korean Boxing and that would be more than enough for someone like Yuh. You say he wasn't anything special, but I don't understand the logic. Only a special fighter can win 17 title defenses on the bounce. Only a special fighter could remain that consistant and come through so many tough 15 rounders without possessing a knockout punch.

Besides, Leo Gamez and Joey Olivo were solid fighters.

 

I think they're the fights I've seen, TYSON DURAN has my Yuh discs at the mo' so can't tell you off the top of my head what I've seen. I've seen about five of his fights, though as I say, not enough.

How many of those defences were when he was the no.1 in the division? That's all that matters to me, although his consistent run is impressive enough without a title IMO.

I went on to further describe what I like about him. But Chang will be able to deal with it IMO, in an incredibly competitive fight (probably one of the best of all time at Light Fly when you consider how both men approached fighting) I just think Chang has more.

And yes, good fighters on there (Blanco as well who got the better of McAuley x2 up at Fly IMO) but still not as dense as Chang, so forgive me for not being as over-awed as I am with the other Korean :good

I'm not saying you're wrong, but rather admitting I'm making an educated guess based on the fact that I've seem Chang proven against many different styles.

 

And I reckon Yuh had a solid punch if not big power. He dug his shots in with intent, which, added to his variety and consistency made him a damaging accumulative puncher.

 

No arguments here, Flea. I only take exception to those who feel Chang would walk all over Yuh.

I only say Yuh didn't have a knockout punch because he was such an accurate puncher and yet he rarely got the knockout. He hit little Alberto De Marco with the kitchen since over 30 rounds and didn't even knock the guy down. The Tunon and Murillio KOs were vicious, but a lot of his stoppages came as a result of accumulation or body shots. Yuh was a great body puncher. Perhaps the best example of this was his fight with Hisashi Tokushima, which is currently uploaded on YT in good quality.

As I say Flea, I have no arguments with you favouring Chang in this fantasy match-up. He should be favoured. I just felt you may have been selling Yuh a little short.

Here's one of my favourite Yuh fights for the TS. It pretty much contradicts anything I said about Yuh's lack of power, but I don't care.
