The Hatton fight was abit of an early stoppage imo Cotto was shot after the Margarito fight, I thought everyone knew this?
Cotto and Hatton were both top 10 p4p when Manny got to them, and he was shifting weight classes at the time as well. Great wins.
right! cuz hatton was a D+ fighter at that point and cotto was a C+ after the catchweight and plaster beat down!
:rofl i was looking at that too! you didn't even mention moeny and here they go bringing him up! classic case of insecturity
pIve said it before and Ill say it again. Hatton was the number 1 LWW in the wolrd He had just dominated the number 2 ranked LWW in the world. He was undefeated in 44 fights at LWW. He was the same age as Pacquiao He was the lineal LWW champ Pacquiao knocked him out in 2 rounds. All that =impressive win.
Both were excellent back to back wins. Anyone that says otherwise just has a clear agenda/is a raging idiot.
Both were just comming off knock out losses... The first knockout is whats impressive. Thats the reason Tarver get more credit than Glen Johnson... If Cotto stops Marg it wont be as impressive as Shanes... Because Shane knocked him out and Manny beat him down.
hmmm it is a great back to back barrera over morales and tapia back to back glen johnson over tarver and jones hell even toss in clinton woods for 3 in a row Hopkins over tarver and wright Taylor over hopkins twice Pavlik over Miranda and Taylor in two great fights Baldomir beating Judah and Gatti in one of boxings best cinderella stories of recent times Margarito stopping Cintron and Cotto back to back to beat the IBF and WBA champs but the IBF stipped Wright over Mosley and Trinidad just to name a few
Hatton had ZERO head movement. So yes he was a B level fighter. He just walked directly in a straight line at manny with a wide open defense. Manny wasnt really that much bigger than when he fought Mab and morales, the only difference is they are miles ahead of hatton in terms of skill. Cotto was game for a while but couldnt deal with the speed and he had been trashed by margo and was very lucky to win against clottey by the time he fought pac.
This just goes to show that it is very easy to discredit a fighter. Let me try this. Floyd - ducked PAC for his great performances against respected fighters, had to see the 3rd PAC-JMM fight to grow his balls again. Marquez - best achievements were the losses and draw with PAC. Other wins were against bums or fighters without pop (e.g. Diaz) No fighter is perfect, alot of posters here needs to grow up.
Really? Greatly effected?!?! When he fought Clottey he came in weighing 1 pound more then when he fought Pac 146-145. Your gonna say that 1 pound damaged Cotto that much? More like Cotto has less heart the Lion from the wizard of Oz. Cotto couldn't handle Pac's speed. As for Haton, only in today's day and age of obsessive fanboys does one loss "destroy" a fighter (but I will have to admit that i never thought Hatton that good). You know what, Ali isn't the GOAT then. Must be Calzage, 47-0.
