I have never studied Jones career with any depth to speak of. The way many posters talk about him like he was a demigod and go on a rampage every time his loss to Calzaghe is mentioned makes me wonder a bit.

Was Roy Jones really all that, and what was it with him that convinced people? It is hard to grasp that the pitfull, heartless beeing that covered up against Calzaghes useless slaps once was considered so great.

This is not a troll attempt, or a pro Calzaghe thread, or a dig at Jones. I am simply curious to know where the obsession about Jones steam from.

Just watch some of his fights pre-Tarver. His greatness is pretty self-evident.

He was very very good, but he gets rated on his skill /talent alone and not his accomplishments. He didn't really fight anybody special except James Toney and a green Hopkins.

What did Roy Jones do? Everything we'd seen before, and alot of stuff we hadn't.
