12 rounds at middleweight who wins and why? I think Toney would be able to outbox him and frustrate Lamotta with his defense and would counter Lamotta but i think Lamotta would have his moments but i see Toney winning a close but clear ud.
well LaMotta definitely plays into Toneys hands, what doesn't play into Toneys hands is all the skills that LaMotta had with the shoulder rolling and ****, but yeah, Toney has more stylistic advantages than Jake does here
what's your point? That you reckon because nobody came in just to pressure him at the weight then LaMotta would be too much for him when operating as such? or that nobody did that to Toney, meaning because it was a recipe for disaster
I think Jake has the edge. Two guys that really imposed themselves on Toney were Tiberi and Sosa, and he didn't look great against either. Yes, the Tiberi fight can be chalked up to Toney coming in out of shape or whatever have you, but he looked sharp against Sosa. Just had real problems with the physically imposing style of a stronger man, and Sosa was spectacularly unskilled. Then again you could argue that a lot of what gave Toney trouble alongside the physical discrepancies was Sosa's lack of orthodox technique. There really isn't much to compare to LaMotta outside of the fact that both of these guys imposed themselves, and Toney showed vulnerabilities, and fighting on the inside with Jake was never a good idea, period. LaMotta by UD.
Tony counters him all night, but Jake lands his fair share of hard shots. In the end I call it a unanimous decision for Tony
Toney countered Barkley so obviously he'd counter LaMotta. One performance equals a career, regardless of what the opponent's done to offset it. Right on!
