Yeah, the division is very deep.
We will have Froch vs Bute, Bute vs Froch, Bute vs Ward, Ward vs. Froch II, Froch vs Kessler, Kessler vs Ward II. Man, what a deep division.

Heres an old post below (over a year), so insults arent directed at you, but please read and I think you will get the idea

    2. Kessler undefeated world champ (undefeated and not suffering double vision)
    3. Lacy undefeated world champ (undefeated, and tell me an active American SMW with a better resume)
    4. Beyer (3 time WBC champ)
    5. Mundine (2 time WBA champ)
    6. Danny Green now a world rated CW
    7. Siaca (former world champ)
    8. Grant (former WBO MW champ)
    9. Reid (former world champ, and fighter that looked unlucky against Ottke)
    10. Andrade (undefeated at this time and looked unlucky not to KO Bute years later)

I think that clearly proves a point when now in the top 10, you have Andrade still who has been beaten 3 times now, Magee who was put down 3 times and beaten by 2005 #9 Reid, Steiglitz who lost to Andrade, Arthur with limited SMW resume of Miranda and Taylor coming off a KO , Bika who lost to Soliman, Froch who was beaten by #2 of 2005, Dirrell who lost to Froch. Kessler of now who Ward beat and who beat Froch wasnt even well and suffering double vision, and Bute nearly KOd by already beaten 2005 #10.

You really did leave yourself open to that one, but please, you have convinced yourself so carry on in deluded form :patsch, but my facts are irrefutable :deal

it may have been the stronger division man-for-man back then, but it also may as well have been two divisions - SMW-UK and SMW-US. People rarely crossed the pond to fight each other.

That's what makes THIS SMW era so special. Thanks to the S6, the best have fought the best, and positive movements are being made to continue that.

When the dominant SMW ends up emerging from this era within the next two years, he'll have a better resume against better competition than any other super middleweight in history.

Not true. It's been a wasteland since Calzaghe has retired. It's just Ward (a top class operator) and a pile of bums and Calzaghe victims.
