Just rewatched the fight. And goood damm it. Just forgot how much Lewis was clinching and leaning on Tyson. He was afraid off an old shot Tyson. And the referee only warned Lewis once. Lewis was **** in that fight.
That's how the heavies were, for the most part, before the Klitschko revolution. Watch Tyson-Holy, it's just hit, hold, hit, hold, headbutt, hold, hit hold..
No doubt Tyson would have knocked Lennox out in the 9th. Just look how tired Lennox were when he sit down in his corner
Tyson didnt want to fight anymore, he was glad it got stopped. All the hype and bile spewed by Tyson before the fight was a smokescreen for the fact Tyson couldnt give a **** about boxing, training or fighting anymore
i saw trepidatation in his eyes when they were separated by the security guards at the start but he got his **** going pretty quickly when hwe realized tyson had literally nothing to offer at this point
Wasn't pretty, but it worked and Lewis did land pretty much at will the later it went. It's not a win that means anything though. Kind of like Hopkins, Calzaghe, Green, or Lebedev beating Roy Jones.
Again! iM NOT SAYING Tyson gave a f*ck about the fight. Only that Lewis did not perform very well and the only way he beat Tysom was to clinch and lean on him.
Lewis was visibly scared in that 1st round which Tyson took. Only when he saw Tyson had nothing left about mid-way during round 2, he decided to let his hands go. Even then he needed to lean on him, clinch, push him to the floor. If I was Lennox, I wouldn't look on that performances too proudly.
Great tactic by Lewis, smash him with the uppercut on the way in, when they clinch put his weight on the smaller man.
Lewis would also hold someones head down and uppercut them. Most top heavies were dirty in some way dating back to Ali (tons of clinching and leaning) Only fighter i haven't seen enough of is Holmes, anyone know if he fought dirty?
