As a young Irish man at the time I just wish he had fought Steve Collins around '96!

For some reason his fights seem boring to me, He has no Great war that I like to watch a few times a year like other fighters. So he might be great, but With no back and forth classic fights, I find no interest. Probably why he's not in my top 200 Favorite fighters of all time list.

Maybe Jones Jr could have move up to Cruiser and fought the best there for a few years and maybe even take on Holyfield.

Jones vs Griffin 1 is a fascinating fight I think, and the way Roy had turned it round by the time of the DQ spoke volumes about him as a fighter in his prime. He was tougher, smarter and better than some people think.

Based solely on attributes id rate Jones probably no.1 of all time.

Stop beeing so emotional, you overcomitted geek.

Jones looked bad against Calzaghe, but thats not the point with this thread. As I state I am curious to know why Jones is placed on piedestal, and I have recieved several good answers. It is extreme that some people freak out because I state, "Hey, I have actually not watched too much of this guy, mind telling me why you love him so much."

I think many people just find it hard to know how a boxing fan hasnt seen a lot of Roy Jones.

His fights and highlights are all over youtube.

Oh, I have seen the highlight videos, but I wanted a more over alla analyze. I feel this thread works out pretty well, and it have given me something to read to the afternoon coffe. Several good answers, actually.

I am also somewhat amused that people go through the roof because I admit I dont know too much about the subject. This seems a blasphemy in itself, obviously

You're a ***** man, simple as that. Even if you've not seen a lot of Jones, you're a ***** if you don't understand what a shot fighter is. Dumb ***** thread is ****.

I have watched his highlights of course, and parts of some of his more important fights. But I wanted a more overall analyze which some posters have offered. I am just a bit surprised with people getting so upset. I have never recieved this much stick even when trying my hardest to troll :huh

Its like watching Ali vs Holmes and Berbick and asking why is Ali ATG, you dont watch fighter when he is shot you study him in his prime and see why he is great, and RJJ was truly great just did not stop when he should.
RJJ against Calzaghe is maybe and just maybe 25% of what he used to be, just look at that fight and then him in his prime, his footwork was slow reflexes terrible hand speed not so good anymore, nothing was even close to his prime.
