Yeah, BigBone is pretty good on the tennis, to be honest there's a few that know their stuff so it's not difficult to form an opinion. On the cricket I tend to form my own opinions, though sometimes I log onto Punterslounge and read Kevshat. If I've got something in mind and it's posted by him (assuming it's a man ) I'll go with it. Rugby I don't do too bad on, but feel like a nut posting tips because they seldom seem to come off. When I do my own and keep to myself, I have results.
I have no clue about cricket. I do alright with rugby union, had some decent bets during the world cup. Backed france against england and wales which made me a tidy profit... Also had Leinster for the Heineken cup last year, but that was more of a patriotic bet seeing though i'm a leinster lad myself...
I have always tried to steer clear of football it just isn't as bankable as it seems to be. You know the most about the sports you follow intimately and in my case boxing and athletics always served me well but the infrequency of the events drives me crazy. In regards to the tipping its like my boxing thread on PL whenever i tried to post tips they would fail spectacularly. I have no idea why probably trying to hard to impress :conf I dont know. Not a bad run there though Spearmint :good
Cricket is quite easy to make money from if you've got the knowledge/interest in it. If not you're just pissing in the wind making uneducated guesses, a bit like cycling or horse racing would be for me. I wouldn't have backed France against England or Wales, as **** as England were in the groups. In the Welsh game there was obviously a controversial incident that might have affected the outcome :hey I struggle with the Heineken Cup sometimes, I tend to read Grant's posts on here before doing anything. Cheers :good I think a lot of the reason for failing on boxing is because you read into it too much. Look at Groves vs Smith, my gut instinct was a late stoppage for Groves, but the 2/1 on offer for the points was tempting, so I went for that thinking that Smith might survive. Then Fury - the last opponent looked alright on paper so went for points at 3/1. Then I saw Phil Edwards was the ref and tried laying it off immediately to no avail. On the athletics I was going to lay Usain Bolt for the craic at 1.03. A piddly £10 lay would have brought over £300 :yikes
I've had a lucky escape today. Put £100 on Sri Lanka to score 250+ at 6/4. Within about half an hour they were 40-odd/4. I couldn't lay off at any point without being like £80 down. Turns cricinfo off, has a sulk and they're 150/4 with plenty of overs left. Managed to walk away even. They still might get them, though it's unlikely. That might be my slice of luck for today, could tempt me to leave the footy alone.
I did the same but use different online bookies and im up around £1600 over the last 6 months (would have been a damn sight more if Burns hadnt gone aussie bashing) ... My main cash cows are Rugby League , Boxing and Darts ... just Taylor ive backed in the last 3 televised events at 7/5 , 8/5 and 11/10 ... Also got 6/4 taylor for the PDC worlds... Boxing - im up mainly due to 6/4 and 9/5 on Mitchell v Murray I lumped on a bit too big that evening but when Murray hit the wall there was no happier character in sunny lytham st annes ... Rugby League i tend to concentrate on the NRL its more competitive and theres one or two damn good prices flashing about you just have to lump on when you feel the times right... Cronulla sharks for a top 8 at 2/1 with skybet looks attractive . They have recruited really well mid season and Todd carney always has a first season wre he performs (2nd season he just gets pissed !) ... theyve some good youngsters in the mix too and in Paul gallen they have the best number 13 in the world...
I haven't placed a bet on it all season. I won a few £ on it last season but it's not really worth the hassle. Same here. And the fact that most weekends the cards are littered with mismatches which aren't worth a punt.
betfred got a couple of specials up, Alvarez, Margarito and Mares to win 6/1 and Martin and John Murray to 33/1
Bristol City to turn over Southampton the weekend at 10/3? Worth a punt considering City are on a decent run and are at home. Could see Maynard banging one in. Defiantly going to be plenty of goals..
I never bet on American football and never do these type of bets. Just to clear up, does that mean your betting on Green Bay to win with them starting with a six point deficit. I.e they have to win by 7 or more?
Yeah, if they win by 6 you get your money back, this is a big game and probably the hardest for the Packers left on the regular season schedule on their path to perfection, an unbeaten season. But with Detroit leaking 35 points against a decent but limited Carolina (although still winning 49-35) i can see the top offense in the league tearing them a new arsehole they have won there games this year by 8,7,10,26,11,21,6,7,38 and 9 points this season. Every time Aaron Rodgers has the ball in his hands he is a threat, i really am loving this bet and you can bet they will be wanting to send a message out and put on a show in front of a big national tv audience on Thanksgiving day in the states.
