Certain things that people mix up with "racism" aren't equivalent to it at all. Obviously it would be false and absurd to say something like, "all travellers are bad people". But it's entirely possible that their subculture can have a negative side to it. There is nothing necessarily wrong in criticism of travellers, or criticism of a religion, or criticism of a culture tied up with a particular race. If you were to attack, e.g. "Chinese culture" or "black culture", that doesn't make you a racist. You could actually have a point that there is something wrong with said culture. Or even if someone wanted to dispute my definition of "racism" here, you can't change the fact that such criticisms as mentioned can be perfectly legitimate.
Gypsys, travelers, tinkers , are a race in british law, in fact cases have been won against bussiness establishments that have refused entry or discriminated against them. England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, have had traveler populations for as long as 900yrs. Picking out a paticular person or group of people involved in an altercation etc and giving your opinion on there behavior is not racist, ie big bloke, fat bloke,short, tall, etc, . Using terms involving race abuse, ie,gypsy bastered, black bastered, pikey, ******, ****, etc is racist. As is blaming a full race of people for isolated instances. i.e. Hagler was bombareded with bottles ,glasses etc when he defeated Minter, does that make every english man a thug?.
