RJJs last great fight was against Ruiz, which ended his career due to the weight gain and subsequent weight loss.

He would have beaten Tarver handily in his prime.

He's clearly not shot. Glen Johnson would have always had his number. Danny Green would have been too much for even Ali that night and Lebedev showed how great he was by destroying ENzo Maccarenelli.(welsh boxers are just the best, regardless of resume or notable wins.)

And while Jones was past best going into Tarver 2 (not to mention dealing with weight issues), that KO pretty much ruined him. It took away his mental edge in all subsequent fights.

He beat him fair and square in the first fight even though he looked like **** psychically.

Bailey if Jones Jnrs run before Calzaghe was so **** how come he never got back into the p4p ranks after the Johnson loss?

and how come Calzaghe didnt want a piece of him when he was schooling policemen? Even Clinton Woods had the sack Joe didnt because as he said directly about Jones Jnr he knew his limitations and would need the crown jewels.

Name a fighter today that would get off with saying that about a prospective fight? Floyd comes out and says i won't fight Pac i know my limitations???!!! he'd get violated on here and rightly so.

Can you please read the post before commenting Bumpy.
I havent said that Jones hasnt slipped. I asked with recent fights and results how shot do you think he is now.

If Jones was so shot, how come he beat Tarver at first ask?
Went the distance with Tarver in the 3rd fight when Tarver was the man.
Jones scored 3 victories between Tarver 3 and losing to Calzaghe, beating an undefeated SMW contender and Trinidad.

So answer if Trinidad was a good win for Hopkins and Wright, so why not Jones?

If Jones was able to dominate Sheika so easily, why did Sheika give Diaconu such a tough fight. It looks good on Jones doesnt it?

Jones put Hopkins down with a legal punch that Hopkins couldnt continue with when recieving. If Hopkins hadnt of convinced the ref it was behind the head, that would have been a KO win for Jones. Would you have called Hopkins shot then? Would it have been a good win for Jones?

Jones was ahead on one card against Lebedev going into the last round and Lebedev fought undefeated CW champ Huck to a SD. Does this look bad on Jones?

Lebedev beat Toney for every minute of every round but Jones fought competitively however you scored the fight. Does this look bad on Jones?

Now ive not called Jones prime but asked with this run how shot do you really think he is?
Could it be that Jones chin let him down as it nearly did against Del Valle? Who isnt recognised as the biggset puncher.

Now very few have answered the questions and have just tried to say Jones is shot rather than answer, so for the fools that didnt pay attention at first ask, try again :good

Nobody felt Jones was shot when he took one on the chin by Del Valle. If this happend now, people would say its because Jones is shot, but look here. His legs went all over the place and he had to hold to survive against Del Valle. Del Valle wasnt the biggest puncher.

Now do you think Jones was shot here?

Jones lost his hunger for the ko long before Tarver1 therefore he wasn't prime anymore.
His stamina, legs etc was shitty at Tarver 1
Tarver 2 his body was healthier but his punch resistance gone, Tarver couldn't touch him in the First round barely landed like 5 punches, mostly jabs.
Round 2 knockout, Jones gets up in time, but refery waves off the fight.
Tarver 3 Jones was mentally broke, in the fifth round he showed glances of his former self and for the rest of the fight he was punch shy. He managed to average 25 punches a round, if you don't count measuring jabs you land around 15-18 punches per round and those had no intention in them.

Jones still can beat some b fighter at light heavyweight. Cruiserweight is definately not his weightclass.
Remember he went as a pro from super welterweight up to heavyweight and 200pounds.
After that he went down to 164 at Trinidad time, thats 36 pounds. After that he again went up to 200 pounds Lebedev time.
In my pinion Jones should have stayed at super middle weight, he was a beast there and could knock everybody out.
Beating aging Benn,Eubank,Collins would have cemented his legacy anyways. Micalcewski and Calzaghe would never be as hyped as today, still they are solid world champions.

  14. well jones scraped through against tarver at first ask was hardly a dominant jones we were used to, jones beat a fat out of shape blown up trinidad, as for sheika hes the type of fighter a prime jones would master with ease so now hes old and shot he can still put a beating on the guy doesnt seem out of the norm to me, now id say jones never had the best chin, his athleticism and skill kept this from us now hes aged and slowed down its exposed more often so i say hes very much shot

Oh God. Jones is beyond shot now. Aside from embarrassing himself and detracting from his legacy, he's seriously jeopardising his long term health.

Quit now Roy - you're not going to miraculously improve now.

In his prime, Jones was simply stupendous. I just wish he'd rematched Hopkins and fought Calzaghe in 2002. He was already past his prime then, and no guarantee he would have won. Good fights though in 2002, particularly against Calzaghe...
