Griffith fought the better fighters but there is a lot of controversy surrounding his reign...Whereas there is almost none with Jose's dominant reign. Jose also probably had optimal muscle glycogen levels compared to Emile.
On paper, Griffith by a huge margin. In reality, a much tougher question. Taking away the Rodriguez wins and perhaps the first Ortega and Fernandez wins (does the latter count as a welter bout?), it's more questionable.
Yama Bahama was the ****en man. He'd own the middleweight and jnr middleweight divisions today with ease.
Napoles was more dominant, Griffith had a better era but was inconsistent at times and wasn't clearly the best Welterweight.
