Exactly so David Haye fits the bill. People went on about him 'catching Wlad with one big shot' :-( He's also an absolutely abysmal finisher. Valero is another overrated puncher.
I'm just going on what I've seen a fair few posters say. I'm just tarring everyone with the same brush.
To be fair I think Pacquiao is a serious banger, perhaps not at welter but he certainly carries a fair bit up there. Looking at his record.... Marquez - never stopped, KD x4 Mosley - never stopped, would have been but for running Cheato - a sick sick chin Clottey - a MW with a concrete chin Cotto - ko'd Hatton - stretched in 2, hurt by every shot DLH - drained but still tough, ko'd Diaz - meh Barrera - only KO loss of his career to Pac Morales - stopped x2, never by anyone else At 135 and below he was a wrecking machine.
I think it was more to do withthinking JMM was comfortable the lower weights whereas Pac was no longer killing himself to make weight. Ended up that it evened itself out and went the same way as before (minus the knockdowns)
Yeah and I think neutral people talk about Haye as if he isn't even an above average puncher compared to the current heavies. He is. I was talking about versus the neutrals, rather than the 'he's the worst heavyweight champ ever' or the 'he's going to KO Wlad in 1' crowds.
Davids power is overrated His speed and skill however is not overrated. And his chin is probably underrated However, at heavy his power is probably "average". At cruiser his power was "good" Remember, Haye throws all his bodyweight into his punches,(hayemakers) and catches people off balance with his speed.... If he really had real power, he would have been KOing GOOD fighters at cruiser. Not tkoing them
Well, he stopped most of those guys because of his raw power (which he's demonstrated since looking hopeless against the quality Sasakul) and offensive prowess. Hatton and Diaz the only ones from that list he's sparked but yes, still a serious puncher in terms of raw power IMO, whilst not on the Jackson, Foster, Hearns level.
