Back on topic but I don't see how Martinez has overrated power. I mean, he cracked Paul Williams' chin AND broke the hearts of the 3 HBO guys with one shot.

It was like a Newton's Cradle of punching.

We love you, brah (no homo).

  5. Haye's biggest weakness, personality aside of course was his finishing ability.

Once he had a man hurt it was swing for the fence time, no thought at all to what he was doing.

I'm not being critical here, but with a bit more upstairs he'd have banged Ruiz out in the first round I'm sure.

It's a good job he never faced anyone with Nigel Benn kinda characteristics, because he was an Anthony Logan waiting to happen. Have a man all but out, then flattened in a flash by a single shot.

  6. Been mentioned a few times, but Juanma.

The Klit brothers have over rated power.

I cant believe people have mentioned Abraham & the late, great Valero in this thread.

I still disagree with that. Certainly not his biggest weakness anyway.

Vitali's perhaps, he's more of a arm puncher and works on accumulation. But Wlad has genuine concussive power, when he wants to show it.

    LOL!

    any British HW then.

No way is David Haye's power overrated. However his tendancy to start windmilling once he has his man hurt though lets him down and appear a sloppy finisher.

Fury and Chisora I'm sure have good enough power, but overrated? Haven't heard many people rate either of their power as particularly great, so how do you figure their power is is being overrated?!

Depends how well you rate his power?

If you rate him as a 'one punch K.O artist' then it's definitely overrated. If you rate him as a fast and heavy puncher when he actually lands sweet with the ability to hurt/stun/floor blokes weighing 200lbs+ I'd say it's fair.

I wouldn't feel comfortable picking Haye to stop even the likes of Johansson and Patterson.

But then name me a one punch KO artist who's consitently KO-ing guys with one punch in boxing right now?

One punch KOs are few and far in boxing and sorry but I don't agree with the your suggestion that the mark of great punching power is the ability to one punch KO guys.

One punch KOs do not not materialise necessarily from tremendous power, but rather a culmination of timing, technique, speed and accuracy.

And for the record, I haven't heard many people rate David as a tremendous 'one punch KO artist' anyway, your argument is a straw man.

He did say 'if' to be fair. Just creating a base to compare to.
