Roach stated on espn that Chavez Jr. would kick Martinez ass. Its obvious that he dosnt see Martines as #3 p4p. http://espn.go.com/blog/boxing/post/
He also stated that Martinez is not a great fighter but rather a great athelete. I tend to agree with that last statement. Your thoughts.

Martinez isnt a great fighter only a great athete? Bull****.

The chin, grit, heart, and will he showed in his fight with Williams 1 was that of a fighter, period. Being an athlete doesnt give you the intangibles that Martinez has had to be succesful.

Guys who are athletes more then they are fighters are guys like Judah, Grant, Mack, (and I mean no disrespect to them) to say Martinez isnt a real fighter is just stupid.

I'm really not on all this Martinez hype.

He's an excellent fighter, but I think Barker showed some deficiencies in him.

I don't think Chavez would beat him, though.

Martinez is a great natural talent, but he's not a real MW. Chavez is a big MW - probably a SMW, in fact. Martinez gets hit. This would not be a walk in the park for him.

LMAO... the gulf in handspeed & movement between them two is enormous. Martinez would make Junior cry.

I think Martinez's time is coming

Chavez Jr has some great traits about him and does some things that troubled Martinez in other fights

my main issue is that Martinez moves a lot and has fast powerful hands

Chavez Jr has a leaky defense and a guy like Zbik was able to bust his face up a little

at 180 or more I dont see Chavez getting KO'd but i could see him looking like Pavlik or getting TKO'd on his feet

I think the fight is closer than some think give Chavez a few more fights and let him develop

Again, Martinez would likely win, but he wouldn't come out unscathed. Pavlik hit him hard and fairly often, and Pavlik is slow as drying cement. Jr. would catch Martinez as well.

Roach has been saying alot of crazy things lately, more than usual. Chavez jr would have the same chace that Kirkland would against Sergio. Its a mismatch, completly.
