Think your forgetting about mcloughlin who has beat the current and previous euro champ in the last 12 months . he is surely olympic level just unlucky with injuries

Mc Loughlin is not a stand out, as was said already there are about 4 lads on the same tier,
All good lads but not dominant Reilly could come out of the pack but to be honest with only 1 place left in europe to qualify i fear we will be going to the olympics without a 69k again.
We should qualify at 49k and 81 (5 place and 3 places left),Hard to see us qualify at any other weight.

Really impressed with Emmet Brennan at 71Kg at the recent u-21s I think he'd do well in the seniors!

Of course, my bad. No guarantee though Willie, when fit, will win the seniors and there are others too. Very deep division without a No 1 guy, like I said I think O'Reilly could be the one.

Does he look like he'd campaign better at 69 or 75 for the seniors? cheers

If he could make the weight i think he'd be a monster at 69kg, In saying that though maybe at 75kg he'd have no worries about his weight and would have more power!

I read in the Newsletter today that Stevie Haughian is fighting Chris O'Brien in Dublin on Paddys weekend.

I think we have a chance in most weights TBH, Barnes, Moylette(or Hickey) McLoughlin(or Reilly) Con Sheehan, Wars(or Egan) DOJ could all qualify. And Maybe, just maybe Ward might go up a weight?

DOJ won and has a tough but winnable fight against a German. Sheehan can win too but tough for the rest. Declan Geraghty very unlucky to lose to the Thai fighter who lost the 2004 Olympic final to one Rigo from Cuba.
Declan led after the first and in the end only edged out by one point. JJN watch out!

Matt not doubting abilities just euro places left to qualify. 64 69 and 91 plus 91+ have only 1 more boxer to qualify 2 at the most
That means dodgy decisions and draws during the qualifiers and seen as its on in Turkey which hasnt in the past been seen to be the most ethical of countries i fear we wont qualify too many
there are 5 places left at 49 so Barnes will qualify and 3 at 81 so Kenny or Ward would be in with a good shout.Apart from that cant see it happening.

Get your point and it's a good one but with the best probably already qualified, the likes of Joyce or our 69kg guy can beat the lot-as long as they aren't Turks!
We'll know more about Con Sheehan at SH after his fight to-day even if the Moroccan is more of a fast fighter than the usual SH powerhouse.
