R.I.P Ron Lyle

Just read this now. No great expert on Lyle but that fight with Foreman is one of the greatest HW fight of all time.

had some legendary fights - Foreman and Shavers being two of my favorite bouts

 

As mentioned above, Ron Lyle will be mainly remembred for one of the greatest heavyweight fights in history against George Foreman.

RIP

 

First Joe.

Now Ron.

When Ali dies - the whole world will be in mourning.

Just think........................

Ishy wasent even a sperm when Lyle was trading with Foreman.

Joe Frazier, Jackie Bowers, Mick Carney, Ron Lyle, and all others that I apologise for missing.. RIP



Of course I hope it won't, but Ali dying around the same time as Frazier would be kind of fitting.

 

Very sad, the only guy to bounce George up and down like a basketball.

Stood there since the 1950's.

Gareth Beavan ran it for 40 yeARS. - he took it Colin Jones as a 9 year old boy - was with him all the way through the amateurs and pros - and all the way to the top in the corner for the Mcory and Curry fights - trained him behind my back garden.


hE DIED - in the last year - the club was knocked down a few months later and a brand new club built.

Some eras just pass away - and its times to give way to a new generation. :verysad:verysad

 

Rip, quite a bit of sad news for boxing fans in recent weeks.
