Who rates him that highly, Dave? He's a solid prospect, who's shown signs of being a very good champion, with massive cross-over potential. I think that's fair.
It doesn't erase the poor run of fights he took part in post-140. And frankly beating up green prospects like Alvarez and chinny LWWs like Khan doesn't change that fact.
Maybe it's just the impression I get. That thread about the Alvarez fight being on Box Nation featured some odd comments about him. I think he's massively unproven and has shown real flaws in his last few fights.
Nah, DFT. It's not just you. For me, it was mostly after the Baldomir win when HBO were barking up how amazing it would be if he stopped him and it ended up happening, but not considering how old Baldomir was and where we was in his career. After that, it was all 'how amazing Alvarez's power is', 'how good of a Boxer he is' and all that ****.
Yup, but I guess that may be something to take into consideration when people say he's talked highly of. It influenced me, anyway. Of course not, but is Alvarez really HBO's 'product'? :think
Glad I'm not alone! I do think he's a good boxer and I do think he's got some power (but nothing serious or he'd be stopping the Hattons of the world). Yet I see a young kid who still hasn't developed a clear style and he's being presented as the Next Big Thing. Very much like his mentor actually, but not as technically sound.
