Too many flaws in Alvarez. Lacks stamina, isn't very busy and gets touched alot. Plus he hasn't prepared himself by facing any good opposition. Basically b- level guys like cintron and c level guys like Gomez don't prepare you to a fight of that magnitude.

No way does gbp risk Alvarez this early.

when mayweather announced he was fighing on may 5th the only name i could think of was alvarez, but i didnt think it was possible for a few reasons

mainly i didnt think alvarez would want the fight so soon (and now it seems he does)

i also didnt think mayweather would want to move up in weight at this age (as i assume he would plan to return to WW and that kind of **** is hard when u hit 30) and he already had a belt at JRMW so the whole nonsense about claiming to be a whatever# division champion isnt a factor

there were no other mexicans i could think of tho (and as ****ing awesomely funny as it would be to see him get ridiculed for fighting morales at 147 i didnt think there was any way hed pull something so absurd)

now that alvarez (probably the biggest mexican draw alive today) essentially said he wants mayweather on cinco de mayo im willing to believe this fight was planned when mayweather booked the venue

its kind of a pointless fight considering alvarez is like 21, but its better than victor ****ing ortiz (and morrales lol)

I'd be sitting out and not buying the fight if Saul Alvarez is Floyd's next bout

Let's go through the different scenarios:
Floyd fights Alvarez- Floyd is ducking Khan and Martinez who called him out earlier.
Floyd fights Khan- Floyd is ducking Alvarez and Martinez, guys bigger than him, to take on someone who has never fought at welter.
Floyd fights Martinez- Floyd is fighting a weight-drained middleweight who keeps his hands down while ignoring the legitimate challengers around his own division.
Floyd fights Pacquiao- Floyd is only fighting Pacquiao because he knows he's past his physical best and avoiding the real challenges of guys at their peaks.

I actually said this would happen too after Mayweather's fight against Ortiz... Golden Boy knows that if a young fighter loses against the p4p best Mayweather, it doesn't hurt their stock too much which is why they would risk Canelo against Mayweather BUTTT... the loss definitely hurt Victor Ortiz's stock so they should think otherwise

But Canelo vs Mayweather would make them a lot of money and they know Khan doesn't want to jump in right away (until he faces Kell Brooks), so they figured Canelo is next in line...

Canelo should be fighting Kirkland smh

He could be competitive, but no catchweight. Hell, make above 154.

sounds like a done deal to me,a big mexican draw on cinco de mayo.judging from your post you seem to think that canelo would stand a chance against mayweather,he wouldnt.ortiz is a better fighter than canelo and fought better competion, yet he looked outmatched early on.alvarez is a hard hitter but lacks the foot work and hand speed to **** with floyd, his defense is not the best either.what makes alvarez think he can jump from fighting the brothers of fighters and tomato cans to one of the best p4p in the world, sounds like he knows something we dont know.
