I can understand people moaning about Primetime, Im one of them but I can't understand why people criticise Boxnation :huh It is value for money IMO.
i agree i think its value for money, but i think there's scope to do so much more on top of what they're already doing, plus i still think it would be a good idea for fwank to still have some sort of contrat on sky so his fighters can get a bit of exposure, i think frankie gavin is gonna be a big star in boxing but im worried he wont get any sort of recognition if he's exclusively on boxnation for example, but i cant see fwank doing that
The schedule for December: December 3rd Live from Helsinki, Finland The WBA World Heavyweight Championship Alexander Povetkin vs Cedric Boswell European, WBA and WBO Inter-Continental Heavyweight Championships Robert Helenius vs Dereck Chisora The WBA World Welterweight Championship Miguel Cotto vs Antonio Margarito The WBA World Lightweight Championship Brandon Rios vs John Murray Mike Jones vs Sebastian Adres Lujan Pawel Wolak vs Delvin Rodriguez December 9th WBO Inter-Continental Super-Middleweight Championship James DeGale vs Jose Maria Guerrero Commonwealth Super-Middleweight Championship Championship bout to be advised... Billy Joe Saunders vs TBA December 16th WBO Inter Continental Lightweight Championship Stephen Ormond vs Carl Johaneson Irish Middleweight Championship Gary O’Sullivan vs Tommy Tolan Irish Cruiserweight Championship Ian Tims vs Shane McPhilbin So we have December the 3rd, great...but then Degale v Jose Maria Guerrero, Saunders v TBA, 3 fights that really won't get me that excited... If they would add the Kameda card and one of the 2 major Dec. 31st cards then fine, but 3 shows on "the home of boxing"...come on we need more and we need quality. If they are only promising those 4 cards and asking us to stump of for a 6 month subscription...then I'm wary.
You know, a lot of posters have it right. We should all pay Sky £30-40 a month for showing very little dedicated boxing coverage in a way that really pisses us off, and ignore a channel that might provide us the fix we actually want. It's logical!
No one is saying stick with Sky, just that Box Nation needs to get more than they have. At the moment they are looking very skeleton like in terms of schedule yet they are asking for £60 up front when we really don't know what we'll actually be getting. If it's Enzo v Bums, DeGale v Bums etc then we'll all be complaining that we got ripped off...I'm saying I'll be wary and not subscribe until they have plenty lined up rather than 1 card. There is little point in subscribing until January other than December 3rd.
true, i imagine they've done their budgeting for just getting the hardcores in, any casuals are a bonus and realise that we'll subscribe without any of the extras, im just wish they'd pad it out a bit more mainly because i usually work evenings and theres no boxing fix during the day haha, i mean espn classic has some decent old fights on, im sure they could pick them up
Not really sure what people do not understand about this point. We have no idea what boxnation are going to show after december 17th.
Thats my take on it. If it fails then fair enough but at least lets give it a go. A poxy tenner for a dedicated boxing channel? C'Mon lads!!:bbb
For a fraction of the price, it's showing a wider variety of boxing at domestic, European and international level. Back it or don't but it's on you. I think it looks decent as a line-up for someone like me who only watches boxing.
I posted the BoxNation December schedule, heres the Sky one: Fri 2 WBA Middleweight title Felix Sturm v Martin Murray 9.45pm Mannheim, Germany Sat 3 British Light-Middleweight title Prince Arron v Brian Rose 8.00pm Robin Park Wigan Sat 10 British Light-Welterweight title Ashley Theophane v Nigel Wright WBA Super/IBF/WBO H'weight titles Wladimir Klitschko v Jean-Marc Mormeck WBA & IBF Light-Welterweight titles Amir Khan v Lamont Peterson Sat 17 WBC/WBA Super-Middleweight titles Carlo Froch v Andre Ward Welterweight contest Kell Brook v Luis Galarza Hmm...tough to see who has the better line up...
Yet you are happy to sign up to a 6 month contract whilst only know what you are getting for 1/2 of a month?...thats a bit risky...
