3 But its irrelevant really. The Roar's winning streak is truly remarkable due to the fact that the set up of the A-League is (like the NRL now) designed to spread the talent as it's salary capped. They have also had their key players leave (McKay, Orr, etc) and traditionally in the A-League, the champions never seem to be able to go any good the following season. noone has even looked close to going back to back since the A-League started, Brisbane Roar being the only exception. No disrespect to the scum's 35 winning streak, which is a great achievement itself, but back then the talent wasnt evenly spread across all teams, like it mostly is now. Take St.Merge's (RIP St.George :-() 11 comps ion a row for example. If the NRL stays in its current state, I doubt we'll ever see a team get 3 in a row.
the Grill team today said the roar had 13 draws. not 3 Matty johns said having 13 draws is abit "Hollow". If it is 13 then i have to agree, although its a great achievement to do what they have done it isnt the same if almost half the games were draws.
thats what i said when i heard they were coming close to breaking the Roosters all time unbeaten streak. they are a soccer team so who cares.
I was **** stirring as was Pecks. 4 Draws is also hollow especially in the ancient league game. Roars effort will never be beaten in my lifetime.
A nil-all (or 1-1, 2-2) etc scoreline reflects a completely different sort of game in soccer than it does in league mate.
i was turned off soccer for life after we were robbed in the world cup in 2006 or whenever it was. we played all over the french. we would have beaten the poms next. we would have won the ****en thing. we were robbed. pure and simple. **** of a game. stick it up their asses.
It was against Italy, and although we were all over them, we weren't creating any clear chances and Italy themselves had a player sent off when they shouldn't have. The penalty also wasn't as dubious as it seemed. We would have had Ukraine next, and yeah, on form we probably would have beat them. We wouldn't have got past Germany in the semis though. Corruption is rife in football though.
0-0? You mean "nil-all"? A draw is a much more common score in soccer than in league, therefore the fact that the Brisbane Roar's "non-losing" streak is comprised of 13 draws and 21 wins doesn't lessen the fact that it's a 34 game "non-losing" streak. But the fact that it's being touted as a record is a purely statistical matter, because it's a pointless thing to attempt to measure or compare to similar streaks in other sports.
