Aydin-Dan, something I don't get about the scorecards

I see what you're saying. Even rounds are rare, and it's a bit of a coincidence that two judges would give the same round even (10-10 on the surface, minus the point deduction to Aydin so 10-9 Dan).

You're saying what is more likely is that the two judges were just ignorant of the proper way to score that, and that they intended to score it to Dan rather than even (which should have been numerically represented as 10-8, not 10-9...)

You make a very compelling point, actually. :think

If you accept a 9-9 round, you should accept a 10-10. It's effectively or mathematically the same scoring.

:huh Well, yeah - they're both acceptable, but in completely different circumstances.

    They aren't interchangeable at all.

A 10-10 is an even round.

A 9-9 is a round where the winner has a point taken.

Can you do a 9-9 for a 1 sided round despite a KD? Like for example fight 1 easily dominated a round until 2:45 into a 3 minute round when he gets hit with a counter by fighter 2 and goes down. And easily gets up right back up before the bell.

Could you call that a 9-9?

I fully understood. What I wanted to point out is both scoring indicates an even round. You're adding the same score to each fighters' total score. It's an even round and won't matter in the total score outcome.

Heck they can score an even round 8-8.

    Unfortunately no.

It's ten point must, meaning one guy HAS to get ten points at all times (unless there are point deductions for a foul, that's the key thing...many people forget about that exception...but it's the only exception).

So in your scenario, most judges would flip it to 10-8 for Fighter 2. Which yeah - is a little extreme if Fighter 1 was dominating for 2+ minutes up to that point. More realistic scoring (but less common) would be to give it 10-9 to Fighter 2.

So it would have been 10-9 for Fighter 1 until the knockdown, and after he gets knocked down you have the choice of giving it to Fighter 2 either 10-9 (which gives credit to Fighter 1 for having dominated until the KD, and means only a two-point swing from his original 10-9 round that he was on his way to earning) or giving it to Fighter 2 as a 10-8 (which is VERY harsh, and means a three-point swing for Fighter 1 just because he suffered what may have been a flash knockdown)

    Sure, mathematically there's no difference.

It's important that people know there technically is a difference, though.

10-10 and 9-9 affect the final scores the same way, but they should each only be employed where respectively appropriate. :good

:good After all the RBR threads you know the points system. BTW did u see my RBR I posted before in this thread? How the hell do you do that? I was logging something happening while something else big was happening. Impossible to enjoy the fight or even post the proper things.

Look at the scorecard Man09 posted: the point is deducted after the judge scores the rd. On the first scorecard for example, Aydin goes from 105 after eleven to 113 after 12, the 2 other judges also took the pt deduction into account. Dan was robbed the first time, but this time Aydin just about won fairly.

I'm guessing the judge who scored it 10-10 was confused with the ten point must scoring system. You know judges were not all deeply knowledgeable of the complete scoring rules just like one judge who didn't know that he can give a 10-6 score. :D

Your right, I didn't see that the first time I looked. Saw the 10-9 but didn't notice Aydin actually got 8 points in the end. I think that closes the case.

Indeed. Many of us, myself included, learned a thing or two about how a fight should be scored.
