    Arce Makes Mexican Boxing History

Multi weight world champion Jorge Arce, 59-6-2- (45), claimed the vacant WBO bantamweight title over Angky Angkota, 25-6-(15), via a clear 12 round decision in Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico on Saturday.

Arce launched into Angkota in round three to hurt him with a barrage of punches but Angkota managed to survive as Arce looked in danger of punching himself to a stand still early.

Angkota fought back and wobbled Arce in round eight but Arce recovered and both fighters went for broke in the last three minutes of the fight. The scores were 118-110, 118-110, 117-111.

Arce is now the first Mexican fighter to win world titles in five weight divisions including one interim title.

Arce had already made history last year by becominmg the 1st Mexican to win a 4th divisional world title after beating Wilfredo vazquez Jr.

and now, he's become the 1st Mexican to win a 5th World title in a different division.

The fact that a B level caliber fighter like Arce wins titles in 5 different weight divisions goes to show how easy its become to win them nowdays.

Just matchup well with one of the many lesser champs in each division and you have yourself a 5 weight division champ without dominating any of them.

Calling Arce a B level fighter just shows your lack of knowledge for mexican boxing. Arce would beat the beans out of guys like Humberto gonzalez and Ricardo lopez who im sure u consider atgs.

He's not a B level fighter but he means that he isnt the caliber of fighter one woulld expect to be a five division champ especially considering hes the first mexican to do so and compared to the likes of morales barrera JCC sr he is a b level fighter

good stuff! but arce loss to the best fighters that he fought. probably mijares and darchinyan. he loss to them in one sided fashion, if you look at the names where he got his titles, it's really unimaginable that those guys even held a title.

I was being kind to Arce when I called him a B level fighter.

Listen, Arce has guts. I like watching him because he fights with passion.

The passion in which he fights makes him a fan favorite, but it does'nt make him a great fighter.

Arce is a 5 division champ now. Forget about ATG, do I think he's a HOF'er?
Based on the opposition he's beaten and lost to, I dont think so.

I thought one of those 5 world titles was supposed to be just an interim belt from his flyweight days when him and Pongsalek wouldn't fight for the real belt.

So in reality he is a 4 division world title holder.

So did the great Tito Trinidad. What Arce has done has been pretty impressive. Thought he was done a while ago and also thought Wilfredo Vasquez Jr was going to easily beat him. That was a real upset and a real title, 4 divisions above where he first made his name at light flyweight and was highly regarded if you've forgotten, until he suffered those losses. Some of his belts are bogus, but hey most if not all of the four-five-six-eight=) weight world champs throughout history had one or two cheap belts if you look back on it. Five-division champ is stretching it though, interim belts shouldn't ever count as a world title.
