vs Kid Dynamite the underground NY boxing writer Malcolm Flash Gordon said he looked like a white Hank Armstrong.
He whitewashed Jose Luis Ramirez which was pretty impressive considering how well Ramirez did in his career. He fought a brilliant losing fight against Arguello. His rematch with Bramble which I can't recall if I scored as a draw or a slight win for Ray, but I think I scored it a draw. Also, his fight with Camacho which I think he won.
I like his fight with Ernesto Espana. He beat the **** outta Espana. Probably his 2nd best performance, behind the Ramirez fight.
Mancini's title defense against Orlando Romero in 1983 was a bloddy tough affair. Bom Bom gave as good as he got against a southpaw and after some rough rounds managed to stop Romero.
The Romero fight for me. Boom Boom was coming off of a relatively poor performance against Feeney, he wasn't mentally right after the Kim fight and Romero was good enough to take advantage of the circumstances.
Good call, and my pick also. Too bad about the Kim fight though. While I was watching that fight I commented that either one could KO the other the way they were going at it and taking massive shots. The worst part about Kim losing the fight and his life is that within a few months both his mother and the referee of the fight committed suicide. The fight can be seen in it's entirety on U-Tube. It lasts just under an hour.
His second fight with Bramble was pretty impressive imo. That was when Bramble was at his peak and not totally indifferant. He had savaged Manicini in their first fight and everyone thought Ray was suicidal for taking the rematch but he made it a very good, close fight.
