Why is Rodela one of Pac and Khans main sparring partners?

Sometimes you don't get the best sparring from the actual elite fighters, David Rodela seems to be sparring and training every week of the year, so I'd figure he's in good shape and he has enough of an oxygen tank and punch resistence to give fighters rounds.

Besides, from what I've heard everyone at WC likes him and what he brings to the table, so its a win-win.

One of the great things few have ever seen, because Pac's training at WC is closed, is what Pac 'n Rodela call "body to body". Brings a standing ovation -- better than PPV -- from the few grizzled vets ta see it.

To finish sparring for their last 12 camps, they go all-out -- no pulled shots -- whacking non-stop to the body. Every one a rib-breaker.

Surprised Freddie allows it so close to a big fight.

Cannon fodder for confidence. Some guys like easy partners to dominate.

It's a tricky balance, sc. Sparring partners who didn't try to kill James Toney were fired. Some camps if a fighter hurts or embarrasses a headliner, they're canned.

In Manny's camp, they're encouraged ta Bring It, with a bonus if they can drop him. So, aside from mimicking an aspect of a current opponent, they throw with gusto.

But whether it's a hot prospect who's come round-the-world to work with Manny, or the ocassional smart ass who tries for a quick rep, most wind-up cannon fodder.

I haven't actually seen Rodela fight, but I think just looking at a record can be deceiving. If you look at Emanuel Augustus' record, for example (34 losses) most people would completely write him off, but Mayweather said he gave him one of his toughest fights.

I forget his name but when Mike Tyson was in his prime, there was a guy with a mediocre record but gave Tyson very good sparring. Huge black guy with an Atlas physique.

I think if he carried more power in his punches, he'd be top 10 pound for pound.

I last saw him versus Provodnikov and he was feinting and beating the **** outta that dude until his chin and stamina couldn't hold. I think he only had 3 days to train for that fight. For that short period he showed old school grit and technique for fighting.

Not sure if anyone caught this, but if you look at this record he beat a guy named Alex Ariza :think:deal...wonder if it's the same guy.

He can probably emulate styles or just make them all work. Some guys spar with people that get KO´d every now end then.
Sparring is one thing, fighting is another.
