Are you crazy? Arum hates Mayweather's guts and vice versa. Mayweather also feels Marquez got robbed. So why in the world would he let Arum be the sole promoter, risk getting ripped off, and risk getting robbed if it goes to the scorecards? It would make zero sense for Mayweather to ditch GBP.

Floyd stands to earn more if he negotiates with one promoter only instead of two. GBP is not needed to make this fight.

 

GBP is needed that has been PBF's way of doing business for atleast 4 fights.

 

Don't be naive. Mayweather pays Golden Boy a flat fee and gets a piece of everything. It will be almost impossible for him to maintain that structure if Arum is the sole promoter. If Arum is the sole promoter, he'll simply offer Mayweather a flat fee. Mayweather definitely stands to make more money if GBP is involved. Now if Arum drops dead tomorrow, it's a different story.

 

What makes you think Floyd would accept a flat fee from TR? He ain't that stupid. Even without GBP, he can still negotiate a split of everything with TR (after expenses if expenses are shouldered by TR) and then not have to pay GBP anything. The only difference with having GBP a part of this is that he would need to pay GBP a flat fee; without GBP, he does not need to pay this flat fee anymore.

Yes, because he has been fighting Golden Boy fighters in his last 4 fights. That is the reason why he needed GBP. If he is not fighting a GBP fighter, why exactly would he need GBP?
