He put up a much better fight then that Mexican kid who got blasted by Broner on the weekend. He was amazing to watch some nights, awesome natural ability and coordination. Wish he was still around
Yeah I had high hopes for Cool Willie. I saw so much potential. It all came unstuck in the Elomar fight. He had so much natural ability and speed that even bulking up a little wouldnt have hindered his speed and reflexes. His punches lacked any pop to be honest but that can usually be fixed. Was Cool Willie under Christian's tutelage?
Yeah Craig Christian trained cool Willie. Willie had so much natural ability and could have gone alot further had he stayed focused and injury freei
I dont know for sure how CC operates, but could he have done more to keep Wil focused? I know it is for the most part the fighters' responsibilty to stay focused, but there are many things a trainer can do without directly interfering which can keep a fighter focused...
I think Willie's shock first round loss to Ahmed Elomar damaged his self belief. But it sounds like his commitment may have been lacking. A real pity.
you p1ss me off. you are a sad pr1ck who is negative about just about everything. I mean common mate its a boxing forum and you come on hear with your pansy soccer avatar and be critical of everything.
What no chin your out of your mind so i supose the overhand right he got hit with from elomar was a fluff punch. he gave broner the hardest fight to date & was about even or winning that fight at the time of stoppage. i think to be honest craig ****ed up bad managment. After he lost to elomar he should have been given some easier fights to build his confidence not be put in with a very good undefeated fighter & remeber he was still very young in age & in the fight game. i think he should have been bought along a bit slower after the loss to elomar & things may be very different now.cheers guys
1 thing about Craig...u wont see any of his fighters 15-0 or 20-0 & still fighting nobodies. He steps his boys up & looking at how far Broner could go...having that loss on Willie's record doesnt lower his stocks at all IMO.
