using the same rankings you used pirog, strum and macklin the three guys you mentioned have just fought one top 20 guy so what's your point

Geez you're dense. Look at the link I posted; Martinez by the end of 2010 had fought two of the top three rated middleweights in the sport, including the legitimate lineal champion, according to your own criterion. HBO did not "make up" the clear lineage that extends from when Hopkins unified the division to Martinez today (the man that beat the man that beat the man). The only reason Williams and Pavlik are no longer rated in the division is because they moved out of it and/or had been inactive. That doesn't change the fact that they were ahead of abolutely everyone on today's list at the time Martinez fought them.

Dzinziruk was a junior middleweight, but he was also probably better than at least 75% of those currently ranked at middleweight. Everyone agreed he was a much better opponent than Zbik, who Martinez wanted to fight, even though the latter is still ranked at 160 and the former is not.

 

LOL.. This. Floyd would rather beat up on lil Pacquiao now that he seen how JMM schooled him then challenge himself and fight Sergio.

 

Martinez has only fought two middleweights in his career, and only one of them was a world class fighter. Very few people knew about Pavlik's circumstances before the Martinez fight. If we stop and consider the fact that Pavlik spent a large portion of his eight week training camp trying to sober up at The Betty Ford Center, the facts should make a person re-think what happened.

Ultimately Martinez faced an under-prepared, overweight, and burned out Pavlik. I've seen all of Pavlik's fights dating back to his pro debut. Martinez faced the worst version of KP I've ever seen. Even under those circumstances Sergio still lost 4 or 5 rounds, and got banged around quite a bit.

If Sergio Martinez really wants to accomplish the things he says he does, he needs to forget 160. He clearly does not want to fight any more middleweights. He should get back down to 154, and get busy. Of course, it is possible that he can no longer make the weight. If that is the case he needs to either retire or fight the top guys at 160.

 

Because they think he has 'star quality' and they're hyping him for fights with midgets. They don't want to see him in with anyone his own size, they know his situation is fragile.

I said in a thread a while ago that putting martinez even in the top 10 p4p list is laughable people just seem to fall in line like sheep.

I hope the Darren Barker fight opened a lot of peoples eyes about Martinez, he's a good fighter but not top 5 p4p material.
