i mentioned, "he hit the peak in the cotto fight". different boxers have different longevity as well as different boxers have hit his peak differently.
I could say mayweather hit his peak with Hatton or Marquez then... How can you argue pacquiao is more shot than mayweather seeing as how mayweather is older
you have said absolutely nothing worth a ****. certainly didn't prove that Floyd wasn't avoiding saying Pacquiao's name till after the JMM3 fight which is what this thread is about.
if you compare the two fights, marquez succesfully nullified pac's right hand in the second figth where as pac has landed it repeatedly on marquez on the third fight. the 2nd and the 3rd fight was separated by 4 years and it's not entirely not possible that through them, pac improved technically more but at the same time has been slowing down physically. it's a trade-off and that's why i said he hit the peak in the cotto fight where he excelled technically and is still somewhat in physical peak.
ring age, ring wars and style of fighting. floyd has been taking long rest and vacations in between figths and that helped him preserved his body well. his style is suited for longevity while pac's style isn't. ring age, pacquiao is older since he started boxing professionally earlier and if you will argue amateur, pac was fighting as a kid before he turned pro too. pac has been in wars much more than floyd had. lastly, in their last couple of fights, we cannot see how floyd could have slipped up but we can see it in pac's last 3 fights.
They were still relatively the same interms of competitiveness just that Pacquiao didnt get a KD this time. As for the trade-off in physical ability for technical skill the same could be said of floyd he's smarter now but not as physically gifted as he was in his prime. But what I said was that Pacquiao is the same calibre fighter overall as he was when he fought Marquez the second time.
A) It sounds like you're saying he's slowed more cause he got hit more, which speaks to his skill. B) Lay-offs could also be a bad thing in terms of ring rust so u can spin that either way. C) Mayweather had 90 amateur fights to pacquiao's 64 albeit amateur fights dont take anywhere near the toll as pro fights but still noteworthy.
or it just proves that no matter how pac improved technically, marquez' style will always give pac fits. let's face it, jmm would never fight pacquiao the same way he fought lesser guys like juan diaz, katisids or casa or he would risk being tagged or knocked downed again. as long as he fights pac with his counter-punching style, he would trouble pacquiao. this is a separate discussion though if pac is slipping or not in his last 3 or 4 fights.
Yeah but a lot of pacfans were talking about how improved pacquiao was and that he was gonna blow marquez away. But clearly he didn't improve which is exactly my point, he is the same level fighter as he was in 08.
A) from the beginning, i attributed his slipping-up, or down, due to trading accuracy for volume. but it doens't discount him slipping physically which we saw when he has this recurring cramp problems, excuses or not, in his last two fights. being whatever the case is, he might be slipping in both departments and we don't only have the jmm fight to show this but his fights with margo and mosley. B) Different boxers are affected differently. in mosley's case, it's counterproductive due to his age. for floyd, it seems it refreshes his body and we have the jmm and the ortiz fight as proof. C) amateur fights will not take toll on the body as much as a pro fight where there are no headgears and you could go as far as 12 rounds in the championship level if you are great early in your career like pac and floyd was.
not only pac fans but most boxing fans are saying that but it's a mistake. alot of it was due to pacquiao being effective at the higher weights and beating much bigger oppositions. they forgot to factor marquez' style and him knowing how to handle pac in his previous 24 rounds of encounter. size-wise, these two are the same even before and now.
A) If pacquiao is getting hit more it's his fault. B) That is totally speculative since we don't know how good/bad floyd would be if he kept fighting. C) I concede that you are correct here.
You don't organise the biggest fight of the year by just booking a date and venue and saying were fighting here! Manny isn't like floyd. Taking 12 month vacations. He actually works as a congressman and is a very busy guy. Plus he never actually said it was Manny, he just said with a yet to be determined opponent. If anything. Him boooking the event and that date was him saying he doesn't need to fight manny next. Just whoever can make that date. If anything I like the fact that Manny is Just like "Yeh Fine lets fight May 5th MGM Grand" Manny just wants to get him in the ring and shut his mouth.
