Nope....he fought the lineal champion of the damn division and got the DLH fight. Nobody can make a legitimate case that Margo deserved the fight over Baldomir. Nobody can make a case, that leving Top Rank, earned Mayweather way more money. Mayweather has fought and beaten higher caliber fighters than Margarito.
The question that should be asked: "Is there anyone who believes that margarito would have beat Floyd?" Margarito vs Floyd would look exactly like Floyd vs Corrales. Please stop acting as if Margariot was some kind of beast. The smae guy who got beat by a young clueless Paul Williams and got destroyed by Grandpa Mosley. Serioous guys...Please Stop. It's getting ridiculous.
LMFAO. :rofl He was all stuttering and looking around for Margo. Marg was a beast before his downfall. The most avoided man in boxing.
Who cares? Flash forward to the present. AM's been caught cheeting, been defeated by guys Floyd's beat and then some, and is irrelevant. Meanwhile, Floyd's beat bigger more polished fighters and made a **** load of money in the process -- on his own terms! Hard thing to accomplish in this sport, to say the least. I didnt think Floyd was paranoid about AM in those videos, by the way. ( Cant belived I even chimed in on this topic ).
Completely besides the point. The result of the fight doesn't mean a thing. Even if Mayweather won every round or brutally stopped Margarito, the reason it doesn't matter is because we're saying "if". Hypothetical arguments mean nothing. Mayweather didn't fight Margarito because it was an easy fight, he didn't fight him because he was afraid. If Mayweather shared your confidence, he'd have fought Margarito but he didn't, so the fight didn't happen. As for the comparison with the Corrales fight...if you think Mayweather could make Margarito think twice about his power, you're deluded. Margarito would walk through him for 30 rounds without ever being stunned. The idea Mayweather could hurt, knock down and stop Margarito is laughable.
Did pac duck Guzman, Raheem, Soto, Juan Diaz, Campbell, Paul Williams, Martinez. well if you call the guys that I listed as ducks then yeah mayweather ducked margo. LMAO
It doesn't matter. It's easy to ridicule the fight in hindsight but at the time, it would have made Mayweather a load of money and been a great win for his record. However, it's clear he wanted nothing to do with Margarito. People always say "Mayweather would have schooled Margarito". If that was the case, why not fight him? Why choose to fight Baldomir, in a fight nobody was interested in instead? Mayweather would have made more money, got a better win on his record and given his fans what they wanted. Instead, he chose the easy option.
Agreed. I happen to think Mayweather would make easy work of AM, at any point in their careers. However AM was avoided by alot of fighters, or so they say -- maybe for good reason. Fact is, most of us dont know, we may think we do, but we dont have a clue of what may've transpired behind the scenes regarding this matchup ( or any other for that matter ). There's more politics in boxing than in politics itself. Floyd's fought solid competition, in my opinion. He coulda maybe taken some more chances a la Margs, Cotto and/or PW. But those fighters have proven to be flawed on some level(s) and unfortunately, Floyd's in the envious position where he can choose any fight he wants. We as fans like to think he's taken the path of least resistance, but he's fought some dangerous guys, that's undeniable. Fighting Baldomir wasnt a bad choice, given the accolades that's followed and considering those whom Baldo had recently bested and what was at stake ( a linear championship ). Maybe some questions loom, like this one -- "did FM duck AM?", but Floyd's career hasnt been hurt by it in the least. Considering where he currently stands. I cant fault the guy for his choice in opponents, when so many before him and since didnt/dont have options. I've rooted against Floyd in many a fight, by the way.
No PBF agreed to fight Margo, Hatton and Cotto I think for 8 or 10 million. Arum wasn't having it and low balled him for those fights not to mention PBF wanted to fight Oscar and Arum said that wasn't in the cards. So PBF bought himself out of his contract and moved on and hasn't looked back since. PBF ducking Margo Cotto is one of the biggest myths in boxing. There's an article out there that disproves it and it probably has already been posted but PBF haters will ignore it and say it doesn't mean anything to suit their agenda.
